Savage Frontier update

Post by Rick7475 »

OK, angel_caller and I discussed a few things.

First of all: name change. I like to call the server the Silver Marches. We can't do all of the Savage Frontier, there is no way or we'll have a 10 gig mod.

Second: for live, we are going to concentrate on the Western Half of the map Indio has supplied:

http://www.thesilvermarches.net/uploads/003_sept19.jpg

5b - 6b as the western edge, following that path to 5e - 6e, including a bit of the Silverwood to the South. All other areas as such will be stripped from the mod and put into storage on the ftp until a time after live when, if we have the resources, we can expand eastward. That means places like Felbarr, Sundabar, and Lluvenhead will not be in the mod at live, but may be added in the months following as we expand.

This gives us a lot ot work with in a live mod. Silverymoon is a large enough city to acxcomodate the urban lovers, and there will be forests for Tree-huggers and a Dwarven area with Mythral Hall. Also, for the Underdark, there was talk of a place that would located under Silverwood, near Silverymoon, so this will give us plenty of areas for diversity, and eventually, after live, we should be able to continue to build and connect to Indio and Thanghorn's mods.

angel_caller has graceously agreed to build interiors for the taverns and Inns and look into hosting possibilities. I have a couple more interior designers and things are progressing. I'd like to say Jan/Feb as a live date, but I'll know better around Christmas barring any more of my interior builders quitting.

I am building a few hours each day and the server is quite beautiful, it should knock the socks of other projects out there and make us very popular.

BTW, is there any site I can post my screenies at for advertising? I have all the screenies I have posted on our boards (about 30 now) that I can post to somewhere else to advertise us.

Other than that, I am quite busy :) I love building, though, and my work as a Supply Teacher gives me some time for the moment.

OK, I stripped off the Eastern Areas from the mod, to be stored and used in the future after live.

This put the mod down to 1.3 gigs from 1.6 gigs, 5 exterior areas and about 7 interiors.

I forsee building another 6 - 9 exteriors to link the northern areas, though most of these will be small road areas.

Holy what? How do you have five exteriors using 1.3 gigs? Can you supply some more information here? There might be something we can do to cut that down.

Sorry, I was out the door to work, let me rephrase that :)

Oh, okay. That sounds much more reasonable. How many exteriors are in the mod now, just out of curiosity?
