Player Reformation

Here is a quandery I want the community to weigh in on. Should players who break the rules of ALFA be given a chance to learn/relearn what we expect from our members before punative action is taken?
I ask this, because many applicants arrive in ALFA via Applications...meaning they may not have logged into the OAS at all, and though their character concept is awesome and their rp stunning, they may not have read about our rules concerning things such as farming, PGing, Greifing, ect. In light of this, does the community feel a grace period of 1-2 months should be given to those newly arrived if they do break ALFA's rules ( a one time only deal) on the stipulation that they log onto the OAS for some one on one mentoring? Would we want to extend that time frame any?

Do we still have the 3 strike policy for such matters? I clearly recall a few players who got the boot owing to them "not getting it" after several opportunities at remediation.

As I know it, the three strike policy has not been revoked. Still applies.

I think Darrenfx's point is that there already IS additional chances granted for ALFA members who break rules.
While Daniel's suggestion is slightly different, I, for one, don't see the necessity.
"Three strikes, you're out" is the policy.
Defining punative action as what?
A strike?
Perhaps we give them a warning before the strike?
Wait, now is a warning a punative action?
How many warnings in a strike? How many offerings of 'corrective training' before a warning, etc.
A strike is not 'punative', it is administrative.
Punative measures could include:
Removal of PC
Removal of gear from PC
Reduction of XP
Removal from server
Removal from community
A strike, in and of itself, is merely a 'warning', of which you get three before the only actual punative measure we have as a community (Removal from community) is applied.
We have always been open to mentoring folks on the OAS through RP101, whether they are an app, or a member.
As such, I don't think this is an issue, three strikes, you are out, no need for 'reformation before punative action'.
Reform before strike three. You have ample opportunity to figure it out before then.
EDIT: Grammar stuffs

I'm a big fan of just leaving it all up to the HDM of the server to ban or allow folks as they choose. The only stipulation i would put on is that if they ban someone they need to let the community know who and generally why so others know what to look for.
I don't think its so clear cut to remove the DM from the equation. If they're griefing another player (not character) then it needs to be dealt with promptly. If its farming or something i think most people will steer towards education.
More power to the DM crew.

Great input guys! Love to hear these things, it lets me know where we as ALFA stands as a community! Keep up your thoughts here, as well as the poll questions!
