The dm_setfaction command will no longer cause servers to crash
erm this is kind of an essential DM tool. Can't DM proper campaigns without it and ZK is definitely not going to be workable without it..

They are supposed to be on a 6 week release schedule so we might not have to wait that long for a proper set of skills. :)

Well, wow. I talked to Rob about skills.2da a few days ago in a chat. He didn't mention that a fix was underway, but he asked me to send him a sample 2da, which AL put together along with a battery of tests and explanations. I suspect that if this was prioritized, the entire community has AL to thank.

Well done, AL.

I just wrote this, hopefully for the NWN2 Blog. If you have screenies you'd like to see in, post a link to them here. I'll choose about 4 or 5. I already know I want one of Indio's WD, Darren's Temple and a nice shot of Silvy. Pick your best of those or surprise me! Do it fast, though. I want to have the screenies ready to send in the next day or two.
Hello, Rob,

First, thank you for the news in yesterday's blog entry that the skills 2da is being raised to 100 rows. If AcadiusLost's 2da testing in my email to you the other day had anything to do with it, ALFA is very proud to have been part of such an improvement and I am amazed and happy to have gotten such a positive and quick result from our correspondence.

Second, as per your statement in yesterday's blog about soliciting articles, below please find a 500 word article on A Land Far Away for consideration for publication in the Neverwinter Nights 2 Blog. I would like to send in some screenshots, as well. To where should I send them, please?

*********************

Ah, spring. (Pardon the northern hemisphere bias). Hockey's out; baseball's in. Temperatures rise and necklines plunge. Plants sprout...birds sing...and, oh ya, shields up, axes high and mind the hatchling dragons! It's the season of new life in A Land Far Away.

As persistent worlds go, ALFA is pretty persistent. We've been around for nine years (yes, longer than the game) and live as a NWN community since April 17, 2003. On April 15, 2008, ALFA is launching our first live NWN2 server, ALFA 003 - The Silver Marches. Already we have a live open application server for NWN, a server on which those who want to join our high-quality, hardcore RP, permadeath world can try out all those adjectives and modifiers and see how they fit their gameplay style. If you feel like joining one of the highest quality RP worlds in the community, you may either drop by the OAS2 or fill in a written application. You would be most welcome to stop by our lively forums or busy chatroom to say "Vedui".

Well known for our custom content, scripting and building, ALFA in NWN2 already promises to be all ALFA NWN was and still remains. (We still have four NWN servers up with 50+ players on them regularly). As a building community, we hit on a technique of using YATT to build directly from maps, to provide absolute fidelity to canon as a basis for the legendary artistic abilities of our builders. As a scripting community, we have written our own ALFA Core Rulesthat drives every change we've made to gameplay in ALFA. As a playing community, we have consistently provided high-quality, immersive RP from both our core of DMs and our wonderful playerbase, as described in our NWN ALFA Players Manual, due out soon in a NWN2 version.

We are simply an immense undertaking, as shown by the huge amount of documentation linked in this article. However, we're not just documentation and work. We came to play; the rest of it is just background to the play. Over the last five years we have proven our ability to provide a fun world for roleplaying a vacation from the real world, and we have grand aspirations for the next five.

Welcome to A Land Far Away!

Best OAS shot is probably the one of the path through the Forest of Wyrms (on the "Screenies for PR use" thread on this forum).
