Enhanced Vision Spells

Hi folks;
Had a question... cast low-light vision in game yesterday, didn't seem to have too much effect.
I looked in the toolset today, there appears to be three different effects which might be used.
EffectLowLightVision - supposed to be equal to elves
EffectUltravision - Legacy NWN1 effect?
EffectDarkvision - new for 3.5
There is a Low Light Vision spell, but there is currently no Darkvision spell. My questions are
1) Do any of these effects have any in-game effects, or are they RP only?
2) Is there a difference between Ultravision and Darkvision effects, and if so, which should be used?

I don't know what effects scripting or items can provoke, but the Low Light Vision spell is broken and doesn't do anything. Ultravision isn't supposed to exist in 3.5 but can be useful for simulating other things - like the "Devil's Sight" invocation which currently only equals Darkvision.
NWN2 has a lot of problems with light, sight and darkness; be they magical or mundane. And simply trying thing out is the only way to make heads or tails of it all.

In playing the single player game, Darkvision definitely makes a difference. Can't speak to it working/not working in ALFA, however.

Darkvision works just fine in ALFA. Low light vision is the same thing as darkvision except that lowlight only had half the range of Darkvision
When it is actually dark in a cave, these thing work great. If you are looking to fix a spell by adding these effects you are on the right track. They work, just apparently not for the spell

My only problem with these spells/effects in game has been that I thought the radius should be about twice as large as it is at present.

I dont think the darkvision/low light vision works for characters who were not born with it. It works fine for elves ect, as they have a button to turn it on and off with.
If a human casts it though it has no effect (as per last tested prior to 1.22) because there is no button to turn it on with.
I have often wondered if this was an oversight by the developers, the darkvision/low light vision button is present for anyone who has it racially but not for anyone who got it any other way (Warlock Invocation, Items, Spells)

A glitch that I discovered when I was still playing my warlock before her death...the 'see the unseen' invocation that granted see invisibility and darkvision didn't work (the see invisibility did, darkvision didn't)
So I am inclined to believe that the spells that grant darkvision aren't functioning as intended. I'm going to agree with the post above that it's likely a developer oversight on what isn't a very useful spell, save for rp worlds where you might be fed up with torches.
If they can be edited to work though, more powah to us.

Note that innate (born with) low light vision works as far as it does have an ingame effect, yes, but it's not anything like pnp low light vision, which allows elves etc to see twice as far as humans in low light conditions and has little or no effect in complete darkness. It's completely different from darkvision in pnp, not merely having different range from darkvision.

OK, just did some testing, learned the following:
1) There is no item property that adds the feat Low Light Vision
2) There IS an item property that adds the feat Darkvision
3) Neither the item property Darkvision nor the in game spells Darkvision or Low light vision appear to have any function.
4) Innate races (elves, dwarves, etc) have a button on the UI "Enhanced Vision - Toggle Darkvision / Low Light Vision", and after clicking this button an effect can be seen.
So right now, both the spells and the bonus feats are RP ONLY. They have no in game effect.
Possibly we could set the defaults to be 'on' for the item / bonus feats and the spells? If the default was on, we wouldn't need an extra UI button...
Or possibly we could hack the interface somehow?

Have you checked to see if there's been some kind of fix to this released on the vault, or if it has atleast been discussed on the official forums? Seems to me that this is something that would have been noticed and fixed by someone by now, if not by Obsidian.

Yeah Riot, I noticed no effect when you cast the spell the other night too. FYI Corio isn't paying Marcus for a magic hood that don't work =P. Might be interesting to RP him trying it on though. Heh.
Seriously though, maybe this is something we should mention to our "distinguished guest" from Obsidian?

I have done a little testing, and the Low Light Vision button, is part of the feat. If you use the console to add low light vision to a human, it appears in the racial feat list, and the button is present.

Now the stupid n00b question is, how do I use the console to add low light vision to a human!

It is the same for Darkvision, except it is GiveFeat 228.
The difference between NWN2 Darkvision and Low Light, is Darkvision has a better range (apparently?)
Elves and halflings get Low Light, and all the others get Darkvision.(all the others that can see in the dark that is)
