As you might've have heard I am switching over to DMing at TSM.
My main focus will be on the player-characters, not any major plot-lines. I plan to make TSM a more "living" server for you and provide more daily challenges for those currently unchallenged on a regular basis. I tend to be into dark and gritty roleplay that tends to emphasize the qualities of M-Mature gaming. With that note you won't be seeing anything from me beyond the type of allusions made in Dragon Age. I also appreciate good dark comedy, so don't be afriad to laugh.
My advice for when I am on; be prepared.
*Invest in those key weapons, supplies, and RP items your character will need to survive for days away from town when you leave on a mission of mine.
*Do not enter areas alone/solo just to off some npcs for "fun" even if it is IC. That is my warning. It is also a general Alfa warning.
*Do keep at whatever you are doing IC and don't wait for stuff to happen. Keep up with patrols and statics in groups.
*Keep up with the social RP. Do what comes natural IC for your character and you will be rewarded.
*Pay attention to your chat window and your surroundings. You also might want to leave your sound FX on high even if you game to music as I do. I plan to use it wake up the afk.
*Think outside of the box. I am willing do work with out-of-game spells and abilities as a PnP dm would. I would love to see people treat enviroments as real touchable things you can pick up and feel, move around, manipulate. Think on that.
*Work as a team. Define the leadership roles and party roles early on. Be ready to rise to the occasion and take responsiblity as well as not be afraid to do non-friendly things IC because you want to be OCC nice.
On that note, IF you would like your character to be considered for special action, please write a character bio as outlined in the handbook OR please update your current status/goals on TSM and PM them to a DM. I noted some of our finest PC's have yet to update things that I know personally from playing with them. There is no need hide relationships and so forth either.
I have read all sorts of creative approaches to updating/bios, including wish lists for items to be bought/created for your characters, quest ideas you like, and so forth. Writing a small fictional story is also a great way to help get ideas for life events that defined your character.
Things I Will Do:
*I will help deliver custom content as it is made ready and approved by the HDM. I hope to get a market day like Danielmn does in BG going to that effect. I can't create magic/enchanted items personally, but I will help with your RP items and armor/clothes. Also you may find that there are wandering merchants selling interesting items around town as well.
*I will handle family planning issues and advanced relationship issues at PM'd request only.
*I plan to do a weekly dungeon event with a fairly serious level of difficulty that will require strategic planning and determined professional teamwork. See posts to that effect in the IC form.
*I plan to do a weekly bounty hunt. Bounties will also be offered for certain creatures once I figure out how to find some decapitated heads. See IC posts to that effect.
*And plenty of surprises for individuals who consistently bring their "A" game to the TSM experience.
All I ask is that like the other new DMs, be paitent with me in the technical areas, don't send me lots of tells ingame if you could better PM me or talk in IRC about issues, and please allow pauses in your awesome emoting for flavor text and prompted dice rolls.
Otherwise my time-slot will be 6:30 pm to 11:30pm pst (weekdays as available) and longer times during the weekends with scheduled events annouced via the IC forums. I will play around this week, next week will be VERY spotty, and then Spring Break fun for all!
