SwordSaintMusashi wrote:Whenever a magic item with a /day casting of a spell is used, it seems to override the ability to restore normal spell slots when resting or praying.

Example: Player has 2 spell slots, and a ring that casts cure light wounds 1/day. All the spell slots are used, and the ring used as well. Player rests, then prays. Only 1 spell slot is restored, and the ring.

Example 2: Player has 2 spell slots again, and the ring. No spell slots have been used, but the ring has been used. Player rests, then prays. One of the spell slots is automatically "used" up, even though no spell was cast. The ring is restored.
I'll give this a try with Olaf to see if this also occurs for Wizards.

We got a twofer here:

At Khelb's shrine to Chauntea the convo quickly goes from questions about Chauntea to Lathander when someone asks about allied faiths. In addition, for some reason Solonor is not listed among the allies, though according to the following, she's listed first among allies : http://www.nj-pbem.com/data/Gods/elveng ... andira.htm

Now, I realise this site may be quoting 2nd ed info, but I don't know of any reason why she would no longer be considered an ally of Solonor's.

Another twofer:
Staff of the Moon Mother (sold at Everdusk Hall) has two typos in the description: deorated and gudience.
<paazin> Elves I bet are kinda fun to play.
<BH|werksux> I prefer the trumpet or clarinet
<BH|werksux> elves wiggle too much

The allies things gets really wacky, because those entries never seem to line up.
For instance, he's also an ally of Mielikki (lover, at times), but M's entry doesn't list him. Don't recall that the elven priest (who might not have been this Solonor, but Corellon Larethian lists her) listed M among allies, either, but I've slept since then.

Lathander and Mielikki list each other, but the Lathanderite temple didn't *seem* to recognize M as an ally (could be mistaken, once I've got my morning biz done, I'll go check). ((EDIT: CONFIRMED, though there's a line about "gentle unicorn which isn't Milil, might be a .dlg error instead))

While it's probably low-priority, long-term, this issue probably deserves its own thread over in standards or the like -- how to handle the not-mutually-listed problem?

Does the "ally of my god" thing even do anything?

It normally allows you to buy church-restrictive items -- for example, you could buy Lathanderite armor if you were an ally of Lathander, unlike if you went normally without being an ally/convincing them you were a follower and only have potions available.

Didn't notice that with the Mielikki priestess...

Lathandar and Chauntea should both be allies of Silvanus and don't appear to be.

Yeah, it's a REALLY tricky issue, because it's not just faith and hearts and teddy bears, but also a matter of which worshippers get access to how much power and what kind, since the temples are the leading source of spiff items. Granted, many of them don't really have anything to sell except basics, but you can easily see the issue. If you have lots of ally faiths, you're more likely to wind up with lots of spiff items.

So there's a tension between balance and lore.

I will offer this, something another DM did on BG as an example.

If you wish to buy something from an affliated vendor, just ask a DM to help you speak with one fo them and we can make sure the vendor "does" speak to you. I am hoping the SIlvanus Shrine/Oak House vendor and the Tyr/House Invincible vendors will have a full list of proper deities.

There is also a chance you can Bluff the vendor. Buuuuut IC that should have some consequences.

Sure, but tell me. What elf-type is going to prefer using a Sylvanus Sledgehammer in battle over a Longsword? That's fur-face weaponry, mate! (For those who seem to keep missing them, yes, folks, these are the jokes!)

Oh, no question there. My Mielikki guy doesn't even go that way.
On the other hand, what about other supplemental items that are sold? Rings, amulets, heavy-duty scrolls, that sort of thing?

Everdusk Hall the priest does not recognize Fenmaril as a part of the Seldarine.

Conjurers test malfunctioning. The disembodied voice informs of dispensation when complete. Gasen will not award task as completed.

The Hollows scouting (or is it exploration?) quest in RM will not complete for me. My journal updated indicating I finished it and should speak to the Marshall about it, but said Marshall does not offer me the chance to be rewarded for completing it. I can only tell him I'm still working on it.
Talk less. Listen more.

Perhaps this is why:
History/Relationships: The Lone Wolf is somewhat of an outcast among the Seldarine, his nominal allies, although supports them in their endless war against the evil drow deities. He gets along well only with Solonor Thelandira- (said to be his brother), Shevarash, Gwaeron Windstrom, and Eilistraee. Only the kind-heartedness of Sehanine Moonbow can draw the Lone Wolf back to the other Seldarine on rare occasions.
