What was it supposed to do? Show the name? Challenge rating? A blurb?

Why not link it directly to Lore?

This may fall into the "asking for way too much" basket...

It would be cool to have generic schools for multiple classes to match the university.

* "Security Specialist" school, only open to rogues. Quests/Classes are fairly obvious... lockpicking, trap disarming, stealth, pickpocketing and detecting. Increasing DC for the more advanced classes, with the traps being more deadly, and having to sneak and detect hostiles in the more advanced classes. Rewards... starting out with related single use items such as tanglefoot bags and thieves tools, culminating in +1(?) skill items.

* Combat school, only open to fighters, rangers, paladins, barbarians and swashbucklers. Quests/Classes on: Armour (light then medium then heavy), Shields( Light then Heavy then Tower), Bows (short then long then composite), Crossbows (light then heavy), Swords (short then long then great), Axes (hand then battle then great), Polearms (spear then halberd), Throwing (dart then handaxe), Blunt (mace, morning star, warhammer) and Exotic (Katana, Dwarven War Axe, Dire Mace). With targets to start with then increasing dangerous mobs in the more advanced classes. Maybe have a level requirement to do a class. Rewards... related items, such as ammunition, weapons and armour. normal then silver then masterwork, perhaps.

* Divine classes are a bit more difficult, but perhaps some kind of spiritual retreat/university/hospital(?) open to all clerics, druids, favoured souls, spirit shamans. Quests/Classes... I'm at a loss! Healing, turning undead, err... animal summoning, protection spells... um... Rewards... holy water, divine potions, healing kits, etc..

Each of the quests, associated costs, rewards and dangers would be comparible to the university (i.e., rather expensive to do (with the rewards being worth less than the cost), starting off easy, getting progressively more difficult and deadly).

That leaves monks and warlocks out in the cold. Fitting monks into combat school or the spiritual retreat would be too hard. Paladins could theoretically fit in either combat school or the spiritual retreat... but I thought it would be better to say each class can only go to one school.

There's a simple reason why the Lady's College is in the mod and featured prominently: it's canon. Although obviously not every single detail is exactly the same as pnp/canon, it pretty much is accurate, I believe. Adding a bunch of 'schools' for other classes would be interesting but I think you'd want some background justifying the inclusion of such places in the mod, as Silverymoon itself in it's 'official' incarnation doesn't have most of these listed. DM's can modify their campaigns obviously, with sufficient reasons to do so.

Especially if someone takes initiative to generate some RP that can lead to the establishing of such. This actually gives me an idea for my pc... might need to wait until he's got a couple of ftr lvls though.

"School" of this or that skillset can be cool if there's strong IC support, which often means "exclusivity" though, as opposed to a guy on a street corner willing to teach all passersby.

Example: shady skills may be a string of static challenges only available in a city's underworld. Whether a PC is an underworld figure or not may depend on being part of a thieves' guild, being given OOC tokens to reflect respect of local gangs, temple of Mask, or whatever.

At the same time, economics have to be taken into account. A school for different martial skills isn't going to be free, something like gold or allegiance to a cause may be required. Maybe a militia is willing to drill any nobody with spears or an archery range, but the pay they'd offer for that could be non-existent. Maybe a bag of corn to make up for your not being available as a fieldhand once per tenday. Not a bag of gold or exceptional arms & armor. A school for nobles who enjoy fencing would have a completely different vibe, requiring a big fat payment to rub elbows with other velvet-clad ponces, and the opportunity to drill only with gentlemanly weapons, in light armor, etc. May even have racial restrictions, no half-orcs at the aristocrat school please! No dwarves either unless they're sober and can duel with something other than hammer, axe or pick.

All takes a fair amount of building, scripting, dialogue writing though, so while the IC case for "exclusivity" can be strong, the OOC problem of "thin resources" may mean that there'll be an assassin school open to the public right next door to the local guard post, with evil, neutral and good characters all equally eligible to burn through a static quest line about poisoning apples and the artful use of a stilletto etc.

The Citadel of Strategic Militancy is canon and will soon be added to BG. It hosts the Red War College and sorta fits what you are requesting. I haven't really figured out how I'm going to structure the College, but I am open to suggestions.

[edit]
If you have ideas, please PM them to me or post in the BG forum, not here thanks.

About the naming...

I love the idea of using "a dark, scarred little gnome" (short desc phrase) as a name.

Just my opinion though.

Hello...

would it be possible to simulate mobs/npc corpses?

So when you kill a mob - maybe it drops a corpse object? and you can later RP with that item? or show it to others, or manipulate it?

I believe this would lag the servers. Do you want it for trophy reasons, such as a goblin ear, etc?

Yeah...

To sit with the party around a corpse object , or head of some creature could have some uses...

I am now actively working on this. The classes are a bit different however, and exclude chaotic or wilderness types. The Red War College will cater to ten of the fifteen base classes excluding:

barbarian
bard
druid
spirit shaman
warlock

Rangers, sorcerers, and PCs of a chaotic or evil alignment may have IC difficulties as well. It will probably be a while until most of the details are posted to the public BG forum. However, your PC will not have to be a follower of the Red Knight in order to attend the Red War College. Following the Red Knight would only be required to join the Temple or one of the two Orders.

This will be my last comment here about this topic, but I wanted you to know that this request is going to be met in some form, though not necessarily on TSM. We can continue the discussion here:

A place in Silverymoon where one might buy clubs and/or quarterstaves would be nice. :club:

Consider adding some NPC military (? Legion?) forces to spawn as part of the fourthpeak garrison.

I always have found it odd that it is just one dwarf and one h-orc up there :)

also considering adding fed-ex static to supply Fourthpeak fort.
