1st level pc's

Post by davidcurtisjr »

Are there any Low Level pc's who might care to gather for rp or otherwise in say EST time zones evenings. Good aligned pc's please as my character is a paladin.

EST should be doable a few times a week for me; my pc is lvl 1, and he can get along with a pally, though they won't see eye to eye on some things. I'll keep an eye out for you

I'm horrible with time zones, but unless I have work for class to do i'm usually free and either A) sitting at my PC or B) sitting at my PC, so I'm sure i'll be able to join you guys in some RP.

Ok... I might be able to if I can keep a character alive :|

I made a new char.. but as soon as i was going down the road just outside of Rivermoot... my computer has a bad habit of minimizing my games for no reason, so I tabbed back in to see things shooting me, and then me bleeding to death.

Round four - START! <_<

Sorry to hear about the death. that's a problem you should address or it will happen again.. Find out what other programs are running on your system, or try a clean system boot before launching nwn2. Check for viruses, spyware, etc. and check your windows power management/screensave settings, etc.

After much deliberation, and uninstalling everything on my PC and re-installing, I hope this is fixed... it hasn't happened yet, so I am thinking it's alright.

Of course now I just have to worry about my crummy internet which likes to d/c me all the time (more at night than during the day though).

Make sure you clearing your internet caches as well. My parameters are set automatically in this regard. CC cleaner is a good program for this and is also a good program for clearing out bad registry values which can cause system problems which will make you prone to disconnect. Also, check your firewall settings.

Let's do this. I have a fair amount of free time this weekend, so regardless of timezone I'll try to be on quite a bit this weekend.

I was rereading some old threads from the alfa1 SD server forums, and it motivated me to start something like the Ducklings again, although we'd need a few more lowbies to really make it go. The Ducklings was the ooc nickname we gave to a large group of noobie players (including myself and luminaries such as Acadius Lost and his wife) with low lvl PCs that joined around fall of 2004 and were active on the Shadowdale server. We had a blast doing a lot of player run stuff, and eventually a couple DMs started to regularly cater to us as well. I believe the Ducklings were one of the elements that made SD during that time such a popular server especially for newer players.

Sir Cobalt, did you get a copy of SoZ yet?

Acadius, you really need to tell Lou to get herself logged on tsm! I even have a dwarf friendly elf rolled up and ready to go...

I'm going to start working on Wvincenti and others to try and get them over here as well.

I had this problem a while back on my old machine. Was my old antivirus program. Symantec live update or some such. I think it automatically downloads new virus definitions and when it does it decides to minimize your game. I turned it off while playing NWN2 and the problem stopped. BTW if something like that should happen again resulting in PC death you could always request a tech rez.

Eck, yeah I had something similar to that once, Symantec and Norton are really bad for doin stuff like that all the time. I'm not entirely sure why it does it now, but every once in a while it will just minimize. And scheduled computer scans also get me -_- they schedule themselves... and i always forget to deactivate them.

And I didn't know about tech rez's, I'll keep that in mind. But so far i'm on my longest lived character yet!

Famous last words.

Still, might I suggest switching to Kaspersky? From my experience as a computer technician it's a better antivirus, doesn't cause any conflicts with other programs asside from slowing down the system when it starts its run, and you can easilly schedule it for whenever you want, from daily to once a month (I set mine for every 3 days which is sufficient for my needs), any time of day you like.

I'd like to invite any lowbies to get in touch with me if they find me ingame and need some companionship. Keep in mind he's highly visibly a Helmite when it comes to those who worship the less savoury deities, however. His tolerance for slime is low.
<paazin> Elves I bet are kinda fun to play.
<BH|werksux> I prefer the trumpet or clarinet
<BH|werksux> elves wiggle too much
