NWN2 Grenade-like weapons
So do they work, then? I keep chucking them at unsuspecting peasants and get the animation and spell vfx, but no-one is ever injured or even notices they've been attacked. What gives?
Re: NWN2 Grenade-like weapons
most peasants have gained an uncanny DR to grenade like objects. Especially farmland peasants. Came from the dung throwing contests they had as children.
Seriously: I have seen this problem before. The acid grenades dont grenade at all. Which makes them useless but expensive.

Re: NWN2 Grenade-like weapons
I think the new patch notes mentioned something about fixing applying alchemists fire to weapons? maybe grenades are screwed up

Re: NWN2 Grenade-like weapons
I seem to remember some patch-based changes to grenade-like weapons in the 2das a while back; it's possible ALFA's are broken due to missing one or more spells.2da changes associated with them. Since our spells.2da has the (extremely annoying) CastableOnDead field changed for most all rows, it's easy to miss out on patch changes in that 2da.
Do we actually use these on our servers, though? I seem to recall the Acid bombs and Fire Bombs of NWN1 were verboten, for some reason. I suppose if normal acid flasks and holy water flasks use the same base, we may need to fix them. But then again, I've also seen acid flasks at least work on TSM.

Re: NWN2 Grenade-like weapons
I've added them on 011 because a) there is a canon-inspired place for someone supplying alchemical-ish products and b) they had a price in the ALFA pricing guide so I assumed they were kosher.
I'll try and do a test and see if I can make any sense of what's going on and in the meanwhile could someone let me know if they're allowable in-game?
Cheers

Re: NWN2 Grenade-like weapons
Well, I've tested them in a new mod with no ALFA haks, my ALFA mod and in an episode of the official campaign and I can't get them to deal any damage to anyone (and I am getting a *hit* on my ranged touch attack). Lots of pyrotechnics but no functionality. A search of the Bioware forum doesn't turn much up either. I'll keep looking...

Re: NWN2 Grenade-like weapons
*bangs head over and over on the table*
Grenade-like weapons only damage hostiles (look at the DoGrenade(); function). I imagine that in itself is why they're banned from NWN1.
And the damage is hard-coded in the scripts by the item tag, so renaming a copy with a different tag ain't going to work either.
And yes, alchemist's fire doesn't work when applied to a weapon (see rpgplayer1's spellfixes on the Vault).
So can I have a ruling on whether it's ok to use them or have I wasted another week on a wild goose chase including building the damn alchemist's shop?

Re: NWN2 Grenade-like weapons
Fo your info, there are greater alchemists fires, acid flasks, tanglefoot bags, choking powders for sale on the TSM server. Not sure about any rulings, but those at least exsist on the live server.

<Castano>: danielnm - can you blame them?
<danielmn>: Yes,
<danielmn>: Easily.

Re: NWN2 Grenade-like weapons
Has anyone actually tested the available NWN2 grenade like weapons?
If not, suggest we add them to a test module and test... along with my recently submitted spells!
