Well met all. I've DMed pen and paper D&D in the Forgotten Realms since 1987, and I absolutely love the setting. When I first got NWN I found this place, and wanted to join up, but I was working in retail, and my hours changed from one day to the next, so it wasn't in the cards.
Now I am taking a break from DMing, and started playing my elf, Raven Snowcloak, on the Open Application Server. I had a blast, and I think I get what Ed Greenwood said about how seeing other designers and writers in the Realms made life interesting for him because now the Realms could surprise him.
Its been great so far, and I want to thank the DMs and players that I have spent time with over the last week. I really look forward to seeing all of you on the servers.

Vedui, Raven. I'm sure you'll love the rich RP environment ALFA offers. I look forward to meeting you ingame, or hearing of your adventures as they occur.

Just wondering . . . I am in Central Time and I have several days off during the week, where I could play. What would be the best server to make my character on?
Which days varies, as my schedule shifts from one week to the next, but I always have two weekdays off. In addition to this, I also check in after I get home from work, and get settled in, which isn't usually until after 8 pm central time.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Welcome!
Like I said before, it's really great to have you here and i'm sure your long-time experience will benefit the community as a whole.
As for servers, I suggest you check out the individual server forums and see what's happening when and where. Maybe post your inquiry as well.

I'll put a plug for Shadowdale here- good EST playerbase, plus some Pacific time folks like myself. You ought to be able to overlap the two pretty effectively from CST. Good place for elves as well- just don't wander the Cormanthor at night.
Also a growing elven-themed community onserver that is always looking for new members. Hope to see you around one of these evenings.

I do have a soft spot for the Dales, especially Shadowdale and Mistledale, even if my OAS character was originally from the Silver Marches.
As long as no one takes Rich Baker's short story in Realms of Elves and tries to turn Glen into a "human" village (grrr). I've been running a PnP campaign for over a year in Mistledale, and there are a lot of dwarven farmers and merchants in Glen that would throttle someone for calling Glen a human village.

I play a dwarf and she currently shuffles between the Glen in SD and Sembia where she currently resides. Both servers seem to have quite a few players at US times.

Glen is most definitely dwarven. Bearded lady dwarves may be seen strolling the paths there.
And, as it happens to be, a certain village lies along the Ashaba, nearly half poised between Shadowdale and Mistledale. Serendipity, perhaps?
Hope to meet you ingame sometime.
