Greetings, I joined through the website... don't have NWN1, but I just jumped on the NWN2 train and I'm excited to be here!
I'm a long time gamer, from the old basic d&d box set to now. Played more than my fair share of tabletop rpgs, larps, and computer rpgs.
I'm looking forward to getting more involved in the community and jumping into the new nwn2 Faerun when it's up and running.
In fact, I'd like to help. Once I finish the campaign that comes with NWN2, I'm thinking about working on learning how to build areas. Any pointers in that direction would be helpful.
That's enough of me for now. I've got another henchman wandering off... "Hey Bevil, where the !@#$! are you going? There's a spear tra..."... oh well. I never much liked Bevil anyways.

Welcome to ALFA.
Lots of folks will be looking for help building so my advice is to have a look through the group of NWN2 servers gearing up for live and see which areas look interesting to you.

Welcome to ALFA. If you decide you'd like to build in ALFA, feel free to apply to a server team. The more people building, the better.

Sounds fun!
How do I go about finding who the server teams are and how do I apply?
I checked around but it seems like there are a lot of different discussions on the topic, many dated last year, and I'm not sure which one is definitive.
I probably missed something, advice would be appreciated.

Not as easy to find this stuff as it should be, mind you.

Another dumb question...
Can someone explain how/why/what the Gamespy ID is for? Do you have to pay gamespy for this account monthly?
I spent some time on the gamespy site, but I don't want to sign up for something I don't need to sign up for... and they make it somewhat confusing on purpose I think.

The gamespy ID is the login name you use to log into a server on the NWN2 Gamespy network. Gamespy is free.

When we mention GS (Gamespy) here in ALFA, we mean the nwn and nwn2 implementation of it. EG That big list of servers you get when you press multiplayer. To log onto that you need an account that is created free of charge.
When you log onto alfa, a folder is created with the gsid name you chose on our central character vault. This is where your character(s) will be stored.
