I am new to ALFA and wanted to give a warm hello. I have roleplayed most of my life ad&d in a forgotten realms setting both pen and paper and PC nwn1. I am also very good at troubleshooting any PC problems anyone may have. I plan to help out beta test the nwn2 part of alpha.
Anyways I am very exited and hope I can help. I will DL the pwc off nwn2 vault and start testing out the beta and post any problems I find. If anyone wants to give me a more constructive role in helping out please let me know. Character wise I will keep it simple and roll up a good ol wizard elf of Corellon for starters and work him into Eldritch Knight.

Welcome to ALFA!
Sounds like you're working in a NWN2-centric mode there, do you plan to roll up a NWN1-ALFA PC as well? We've got a few NWN2 Beta servers started now, but currently NWN1 is still where the RP is at, generally speaking. Help testing the betas is well appreciated, but I'd encourage you to get some fun in on the NWN1 side as well. (assuming you own a copy of NWN1+expansions- guess not everyone does these days).
In regards to the NWN2 servers, the haks are still in a state of flux- we're working out what needs to be in, and what can be added for time being- so be prepared to ask for help if you have trouble connecting. Feel free to message me on IRC (#alandfaraway.org) if you need assistance finding anything vital.
What timezone are you in?

*flips through his things to find his CD's*
I am from the eastern timezone. If I find my nwn1 CD's I will give nwn1 a shot. I recently moved so my things are in disarray.

It's a big set of haks to d/l for NWN1 as well- but EST is probably the best timezone in the world right now for ALFA- not sure about all the other servers, but Shadowdale is seeing 15-30 players on all through the EST evening recently, the most consistent player and DM coverage I've seen in 2.5 years of ALFA. Getting interaction with a diverse playerbase and DMs in ongoing plots is definitely the "ALFA experience" we hope everyone gets a taste of.
Hopefully the NWN2 Betas will start to get some planned DM times and playing going on in the next month or two- but the core systems still need a fair bit of work to get them playable. I'm optimistic, though.

Welcome aboard. I am also new, and you will find this to be a very welcoming group of people, even if most of them are freaks in one way or another. So far everyone has been awesome to me.

Welcome Zant - Sounds like you have alot of Forgotten Realms experience - If you are interested in building please feel free to send anyone of us active NWN2 builders a PM.
Indio - The Savage Land (Silver Marches)
Cipher - Waterdeep
Thangorn - Moonsea (Zhentil Keep)
Marklos - The Far North
Aelred - Myth Drannor (Cormanthor)
Teric - NWN2 OAS
Castano - Island Kingdoms
Inaubryn - Northdark
Even if you are not skilled in the toolset there are tons of other related tasks that need doing to get our NWN2 servers live - like writing up quests or conversations. And if you want to learn to build - I'm sure we can lend you a hand to get thru the learning curve.
Enjoy!
