Most people are kind and will answer all of your questions if you send them a tell in game.
People will soon come and say good luck on your second character, I say good luck on the first, don't fight stuff alone and you'll do... better.
What server will you be playing on?

If you have any question feel free to ask in game, or hit that IRC chat button to the left. usually lots of people in chat who will at least pretend to know the answer :p

Just remember:
1. Don't sweat permadeath. The servers are persistent and full of randomly spawning death. You can't solo like a MMO. You need friends. (see #3)
2. Ask in IRC chat about anything. Look to the left there and click "IRC chat"
3. Make your character on a server with people IN your timezone. (See #2 for finding out that). Talk to people. RP is the most rewarding thing about Alfa.
4. Don't be afraid of Dms. They can help you out if you talk to them in IRC chat. Talking to them while they are running an adventure may not produce the same amount of helpfulness.
5. Don't solo play. This is not an MMO. Every person I know who chronically dies does so through soloing.
