Can't launch DM client from GOG NWN2

I have NWN2 running on 3 machines. My 2 laptops are fine
But the desktop in my office launches NWN2 from a desktop shortcut called "Neverwinter Nights 2 Complete" that bypasses the choice for DM Client and launches the game in player mode.
I was hoping someone could help me out.
(By explaining the fix to me as if I were a kindergartner)

Well.... I looked at all of those... no lcuk
I tried uninstall and just reinstalling from my CDs instead of steam ....
not I can't get the updater to work ... aborts every time
gah!

The shipped updater won't work. Atari stopped supporting the game ages ago. GOG should get you going however.
Go to the NWN2 install folder, and make a shortcut to nwn2main.exe
Right-click the shortcut, and under the target field, add " -dmc" to the end. E.g.:
Code: Select all
"D:\Games\Neverwinter Nights 2\nwn2main.exe" -dmc
If you are using the Client Extension (you should), then it is instead:
Code: Select all
"D:\Games\Neverwinter Nights 2\NWLauncher.exe" -dmc

It' probably just me not understanding ... but I couldn't find anything to edit when I looked at the propertie.
I'll try again tomorrow

Thanks for helping .... I think I am making progress.
I at least figured out that I had to D/L the client extension. I d/ld and then dragged it to desktop.
Now I get a "Couldn't locate clientextension.hdl. You should put it in the same location as NWNLauncher"
Also, my "properties" tab shows no option for "shortcut". I have general, compatibility, security, details, previous versions to choose from.
Again sorry for being so slow ... I really appreciate the help.
