A birth in a woodcutter's hut along the Silverywood Road.
A hopeful sister of three, all deceased in childbirth, sends her husband to the city in the north to bring a midwife. Alone in her hut she prays for a the safe birth of the child carried in her womb.
At dawn a child is born, easily, without effort or pain. The midwife exclaims, "what a beautiful child."
The woodcutter opens his door to the village well-wishers. They gather to celebrate with the beaming mother and father. The well-wishers bring food and gifts.
