Thanks Mikayla, for all that work you'ev put in. ALFA has really been lucky to have you. Having such a steady, consistent and fair voice speaking for ALFA these past two years is certainly not something that we could ever put a price on.
Anyway
Mikayla, long ago, wrote:Alas, so long as I am Admin I do not think it fair of me to poke fun at other ALFAns however - satire is great coming from just another citizen, but when your local judge/jury/executioner does it, well, some of the humor is bound to be lost. So, after my tenure I shall resume
Looking forward to seeing what you can do armed with 2 years worth of Admin experience

OMG, I actually remember when I used to do that. What happened to me? What have I become?
I'm scared....
Mikayla....hold me.
"The God of the Qurʾan is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully." -- Vaelahr
ALFA is full of pretty smart people, but there is a phenomenon I have noticed that I like to call the 'trap of the pretty smart.' Pretty smart people are right more often than they are wrong. But this can lead them to believe that they are always right, and that those that disagree with them must be dumb, since they are pretty smart, and probably right. But its not true - what is true is that two pretty smart people can look at the same problem and come to completely different answers without either of them being dumb. Some problems simply have more than one answer - its the proverbial 'more than one way to skin a cat.' Here in ALFA, all too often we fall into the trap of the pretty smart person - we forget that reasonable, smart people can disagree without anyone being dumb, or stupid, or obstinate, or any of the nasty things so many ALFAns have called so many of their brothers and sisters.
So, I once again, I ask you to think. When you find yourself disagreeing with another ALFAn, try not to fall into the trap of the pretty smart person - try to remember that the other person is probably pretty smart too, and that their idea might be just as good as yours, and if you work together, you will accomplish a lot more than if you work against each other.
I ask each of you, think when you post. Think when you chat. Think when you take a position or react to someone else's.
What?! What is this nonsense? What is this drivel?! Oh well, I think there might be some sort of pithy quality to it I suppose. . .
“In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.” - Open Message to the Executive Branch.
Would like to add my voice to the choir of thank you´s.
The work you did, Mik, was always excellent and beyond and the way you kept up the unwavering quality for so long deserves a hearty admiration of everyone!
It´s a sad day to see your Dark Reign end, indeed.
My thanks to everyone who has expressed their thoughts in this thread. I very much appreciate the pats on the back, and Wynna, though I am not usually one for trinkets or tokens and such, I will forever treasure the gold watch, and the bloody wrist its attached to, as perhaps the best and most appropriate virtual gift I've ever received. My thanks.

I'd like to offer my thanks to the most even handed PA we've ever had. Mik and I have disagreed on some topics in the past and agreed on others but I've always respected the fact that she would back up her position with thought out reason and not the usual "I'm right because I said so" rubbish we've all seen from time to time.
Thanks Mik for doing a thankless job for so long.

"We had gone in search of the American dream. It had been a lame f*ckaround. A waste of time. There was no point in looking back. F*ck no, not today thank you kindly. My heart was filled with joy. I felt like a monster reincarnation of Horatio Alger. A man on the move... and just sick enough to be totally confident." -- Raoul Duke.
