ALFA was my very first online gaming experience and it got me hooked in a way that for the first 6 months I played almost every week night. After my PnP group disbanded, the possiblity of playing DnD again and using a medum that favours RP much more than the tabletop model was too good to pass. Most players were welcoming in game, even if they were sometimes, a tad too much acidic in the forums or chat.

ALFA always had it's ups and downs and behind the curtains drama and general asshattery were usually mentioned as the top culprits for people leaving the community. Lucky for me, when I joined back in 06, Daggerford had something like 8-10 players every night of the week and being too busy playing, I had very little time to get annoyed by the bad parts. Things seem to have taken a turn for the better though, with forums more friendly towards new (and old) members and people in charge more focused in making ALFA a better community and gaming experience, instead of just trying to play king of the world. That's something that I can recognize even now that I'm mostly gone.

As for the people, I enjoyed playing with almost every one I met IG, being players or DMs. But some made a more lasting impression.

Angel Caller, Rick, Red Menace and all it's playerbase. People loved to trash DF and in some points they were right. It had more wealth and magic than any other server I played in, but it also had something to do and someone to do it with every time I wanted to play and it was a blast.

Danielmn, for always being true to his characters and for never being afraid of getting them completely screwed up if the situation called for it, even if it meant plucking his own eye out to help save his friends.

Miz and Brokenbone, for having the patience to put up with my n00bery with the DM client and making my time as a DM in Daggerdale more fun than I hoped for.

Halrin, for all the good fun we had playing together until you dropped from the face of the earth. Bastard. >:/

Misty, for making Laurelin. :P

FI and all the players that had a PC in her two year long (and still running) campaign, for giving me the most fun I ever had playing this game.
Current PC: Gareth Darkriver, errant knight of Kelemvor

It simply isn't possible to list all the people I'd like to thank on one page here, so I'm not even going to try. Suffice to say that from pre-nwn1 to now, with a few small vacations between, this place keeps me interested and having fun, and still manages to motivate me to help out now and then, and for those of you who know just how lazy I can be, that's definitely saying something.

Thank you for playing on TSM, Mik. The drow alliance was the craziest shit I ever did and it never would have worked without you and the rest of your crew being so fun.

Thanks to everyone who played in the Shade War. There were so many of you that I won't even try to name names. I still regret never being able to bring it to a proper end, but it was a lot of fun and I am glad we got to do all sorts of things I never imagined we could. The Siege of Sundabar, the Thayan invasion of Sembia, the Loudwater war. I'm gratified that so many people wanted to get involved and we were able to include so much of the world. And I'm happy that everyone I killed in the course of the story was okay with it. Class acts!

I'm glad I got to make you all afraid of shadows for two solid years. I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did.

The Big Cheese:
Thank you for playing on TSM, Mik. The drow alliance was the craziest sh*t I ever did and it never would have worked without you and the rest of your crew being so fun.
Sheyreiza's negotiations with Alustriel are one of the high-points of my memories. I remember in the negotiations thinking that there was no way Shey could go to the drow as a priestess of Eilistraee, that she would have to return to Lolth, and so she implied that to Alustriel, telling her something like "You know that this will cost my soul." I cannot remember the exact words you replied with, but I do remember that what ever they were, they hit exactly the right note for what I thought Alustriel would say - and that is true for those entire negotiations. Going into it I had been prepared to be disappointed with your portrayal of Alustriel, given that she was this super-hero and all (and given my experiences with ALFAs Qilue, which were disappointing after Ecclesia left) but somehow, you did it GF - Alustriel was just who she was supposed to be, and that Shade war was a HUGE turning point in Shey's life - she sold her soul to Lolth to get the drow to help the Silver Marches. Thank you so much for allowing me to play that all out, to make a difference in our fictional world and feel like my character meant something, to feel like her struggles and sacrifices meant something. It was an amazing time and an amazing game. Just thinking about it now, and writing about brings tears to my eyes. Shey's sacrifice, Alustriel's willingness to deal with the devil as it were, Higgy's reluctant acceptance of the dirty deal, all of it - it was amazing. It was, for me, the promise of ALFA fulfilled. It was an adventure worthy of the novels themselves, and to me, even greater. Thank you. :)

And you too Vendrin, of course, because I know you played a part in it.

Oh, and finally, one of my absolute FAVORITE moments in all of ALFA came when I led the drow army to war against the Shades on behalf of the silvermarches. It was not because of all the drow at my command, or the war itself, or any of that - it was because Hignar was with us, trudging along in the center of the army like a one-man siege machine. And when we joined battle, that was exactly how we applied him - like a one man (err..dwarf) siege machine. And the fight with the Shade Arcanist was awesome (one touch and i went from 103 hitpoints to 3 hitpoints as I recall). Anyway, the Shade war and my brief encounter with Alustriel were real high points. Thanks GF.

Gawd, I'm going to forget each and every person I have to thank. But this thread has made me helluva reflective. It's amazing what my PC has meant to me over the years.

Thanks to El-Chip, whoever you are, for building Waterdeep; Jayde for making Rhekka the complex PC she became; Seva for being bad ass; Glass Rain, for Syphon Grimgor, the most interesting PC I ever met. Holy gawd, I'll be here all night if I try to list everyone else, and I want to play now! Thanks to literally everyone I ever played with. Good lord. Or who DMed my silly little toon.

Thanks are also due in no small part to everyone who kept this place running throughout it all. I can't begin to fathom the effort it took so many people.
Currently laying the smackdown on Faerun as: Keryn Tel'Jora, who is XXX-TREME!!!.
Currently explaining the meaninglessness of it all as Vizian Nazyr.
Currently pointing out all other characters' shortcomings as Stephen the Archer.

i'd spend days writing down all who i'd like to thank for my NWN1 experiences, most are not here anymore anyways - SO I JUST THANK EVERYONE IN ALFA PAST AND PRESENT

absolutely the most funnestest time i've had on the interwebs in my life, and trust me i'm on the interwebs alots!

mik, you stirred up me memories with this ...
Lastly, I want to put out a general thanks to all ALFAns who helped make ALFA-NWN1 what it was. I had good times DMing (Daggerdale and the drow-invasion campaign, the Bright Blades Quest which was the first multi-server mega-quest, etc) to playing.
my PC, Talon, was an intellectual of sorts but neither he (nor his player LOL) figured out the bad guy in that quest til late in the game

my PC made it thru the first day of live til the death of ALFA-NWN1, no retirement, no other PC, although like most here my RP time died down in parallel to NWN1 waning. i guess my PC lived/played on every server at some point, even some that were banned LOL.

ahh the good ole days
Garrigan DeLorre - Paladin 6 - died honorably in battle
X'Anne - Witch (Druid/Ranger mix) 4 - captured and imprisoned awaiting trial (retired)
Talon Xavaliir - Cleric 11 - living

.... So the show is over (but what about reruns?)?

What is to say about the love affair i have the memories this place, this electronic home-away-from-home, this familiy i have here.

Nothing. Anything. Everything.

I mean, how do you explain to your kids about how you feel, how you felt the very first time you looked across the valley north of Belegost on NWN1-BG? The first time you see the tree line on Shadowdale, coming from NC1 or 2! especially after the expansion which just added another 30 mins of walking time (because nobody was foolish enough to walk straight through weird a$$ spawns in the wilds off road...

Well, maybe Soppi since she had no fear, or Amy, since EVERYTHING (save Millia, oddly enough) feared HER.

or that first time Soppi led me to Triboar, coining the phrase Millia would ever fuss about (Soppi-Cuts!).

I really miss those times. It was never supposed to be about XP or Levels or Loot (thus nice but JenWa teased me enough about being poor all the time. *snort* [h]Asshat!)

So, ladies and gents.... now what?

oh, and Kalev? How look you think that nutter Gnome of mine would have lasted (heh, or better yet, Perry? ) *huggles all!* I mean, how do you thank all those people, around the World, who helped make all these awesome, painful, beloved memories of ALFA, that i have...

How do you do that?

Oh yeah. Akemi. Do anyone ever successfully arrest you? I mean, i'm sure the guards are still looking for you (after you offered to sell those children we where escorting to SD that year)

seriously, Millia loved you but seriously, she wanted to kick the living shite outta you, as well! :wall:

Nick. who else would drive a toon wo want to drive after just following you (Lets go [Insert insane idea that would be sure to kill us all] *smiles*). You gave Millia ulcers!

JenWa. Abbout to my Costello. Visiting Garth's Roost (and the fun writing that story), casting Fox's Cunning on you and me (It's fricking crack for Millia, punching 20 Int).

HammerElf! (you know who you are, and i still remember show and tell... for scars!)

Rotku. I always. ALWAYS, stopped and prayed to your shrine in Red Larch. Nobody ever saw Millia cry about hearing about Melissa's passing, but i did. Thank you.

Loxy~love. How you managed to save entire region, i don't know. Millia is still wasting bits of Copper wire, wondering how you are...

Zakharra. i'm pretty sure i met a drow elf (who sang to me!) on The lonely Long Road. No to mention the BIBGBIBGBIBGBIGBIGBIBGBIBGBIGBIBG....something that one day. i just stood there in stealth, soiling myself as it hammered on by, chasing a dear... BG1 was not for the weak!

Lou. ArC. Me huggles you enough (and hey! I got shoes for you guys from Lisbon. can i come over Saturday afternoonish?)

crap. names fail me, but i know i need to huggle you all, just to be sure...

I haven't played in along time. I tried NWN2 and cant say I like it. NWN1 was a very enjoyable experience. I thoroughly enjoyed Playing as Carion. I remembered when I started playing him at the time of the undead quarantine in WD. That was a great experience. I wish I could remember all the pc's he encountered. I certainly recall the Bane worshiper he hated. Darius. The love of his life and mother of his child. Ash'ale Derviase. His complete opposite. I miss playing him. Good time with him wanting to question himself.
