Two PCs?

Post by DarkHin »

I don't know if this has been discussed lately, and if it has I'm sorry if I'm beating on a mutilated horse-corpse.

I personally don't see why we can't allow players to have two PCs, perhaps with the caveat the these PCs don't play on the same server, which would hopefully prevent the awkwardness that may arise out of two characters that can never meet each other, as they're the toons of the same player. I realize this rule could be problematic to enforce, but I have faith that ALFAns can be trusted to follow the guidelines re having two toons. The most obvious benefit of a two-PC rule is that you're more likely to snag DM time. Moreover, I think PCs will be more willing to "settle down" on one server, mitigating the awkwardness of running into the same PCs all over Faerun, in the Silver Marshes, the Moonsheas, and The Sword Coas; and also of ALFA time/travel. All in all, ALFA would be funner.

What say ye?

A recently resurrected and then re-beaten horse. Wait half a year then it should be safe to bring up again ;)

Good luck for you, ALFA has a sister project. A server just like ALFA with a few slight hak differences and a few differences in play style but they are basically the same game

As a member of one club you can play in both, make your second character on Exodus and enjoy a taste of Amnian culture

We may as well have another charter vote on it, as the voter rolls were trimmed down?
People talk of bestial cruelty, but that's a great injustice and insult to the beasts; a beast can never be so cruel as man, so artistically cruel.

Or just go for a simpler proposal than the last one to vote on. Something like "2 PCs in ALFA: Yes or No".

Even in my iPhone that only took 10 seconds to type.

Edit: Though I still maintain removing the "can't play where you DM" rule would be more beneficial as it may also bring in DMs who may otherwise stick with their PC so they don't have to leave their favorite server. I do understand that is a much different discussion to be had, though.

By all means welcome to visit Amn
Be adviced, though, that Amn operates clearly more as a DMd-only platform, there's no scripted statics to hunt, and very few autospawn monster lairs. On the plus side (hopefully), the single-server approach gives us more freedom from standards and red tape to do (PC specific) custom things with the game mechanics (even when they only work good, not perfect).

Anything to lower barriers between the sandboxes, be it psychological or technical, is certainly appreciated from our point of view. Hopefully one of these days we could use completely the same tech platform, for example.
