GF:
Early Waterdeep with Jarlen's crew is still the most fun I ever had as a player, I think.
When I first joined ALFA, the DM of Waterdeep (who the hell was it again - I can't remember his name - built the place I think - El Chip maybe?) sent me in, as a player, with a drow to talk to Jarlen and his crew. I ran into Coby (aka Drakeswind/Treowe) and Vixisyn and they took me to see Jarlen. In about a heartbeat I knew I was totally out of my depth - these people were serious gangsters and they knew the game and how to play, and I didn't know crap - I was sending tells to the DM saying "this is not gonna work - I'm gonna get killed" and he kept saying "just go on, do it" and such. This whole affair turned into a forum flame-war unfortunately, but I will never forget that first encounter, sitting down on a trapped chair, Coby's crossbow in my face, Vixi's PC behind me, Jarlen starting to talk, and me thinking, "who the hell ARE these pyschos?!?" Good times.

w00t! I should be granted 10 levels of Necromancer for bringing Mother back, even if just to wave. How ya' doin' mom? I've missed your special brand of forum fire. Of course, I've missed everyones' brand, since I've been gone for 4 years, but hey, look what the cat dragged in. Good to hear from you.

Doing well, and you? Came back here awhile ago. Been trying to re-learn the toolset and the game. But it is old and it sucks...lol. Anyway, steep learning curve and time is always an issue. But I have been accepted as a DM and hope to start carpet bombing the players with scary shit very soon. Glad you are back, if you are. We need more seriously creative types to offset the large numbers of Eurotrash techie nerds who pleasure themselves while looking at math problems. Bureaucracy equals the suck.

And that, right there, is why I love you. That certain brand of ... how shall we say? Writing creativity? LOL

I was thinking about you yesterday actually. I was reading through the Library and I re-read the old Lord of the ALFA stuff, with J'Kin, WW, etc. Really made me laugh. Made me nostalgic too - damn I'm gettin' old.

Anyway, things are in-flux for me. I am back in ALFA, and actually playing. I have been in-game like 3 nights in a row. At that rate, I should make 2nd level by the end of Obama's second term ... ;) j/k of course. Outside of ALFA, life is in turmoil - I'm trying to change careers, be a single-parent, get laid (broke up with my partner of 9 years last year), and all sorts of stuff. I have gotten into running though - I do a lot of running now, and I really enjoy it.

So, I am really glad you're back as a DM. Let me know where and when you'll be DMing and ... I'll avoid it like the plague! I want to live! I want to LIVE!!!

I would combine getting laid with running...
You might scare the hell out of them but fear is an aphrodisiac. And if you chase them long enough, they may yield out of sheer exhaustion. Win-win. Unless you go to jail. Then you would get laid there too. So yeah, win-win.

As always, your advice is practical, upbeat and .. uh .. unique! You know, you should write a relationship advice column. ;)
