The life and death of Mick's PC Dawn Shiningeye and my PC Corio's role in it. Truly epic story that only a few players and DMs even know about.

Here is a taste:

http://www.alandfaraway.org/forums/view ... =6&t=43511

And how it ended for Corio, and the ill fated crew of the Spirit Vixen, after Dawn's fall into darkness and death:

There are rumors that Corio may still be found roaming the high seas, though I dare say he is probably best avoided =D

The Night of the Three Knives. I loved it, and I wasn't even there.

The Quest for the Rod on TSM with my first and best PC, Eskuril, that lasted 10 months from First Live.

Jaydelewt in all its forms.

The hex map on BG.

A hin companion trying to explain to the man guarding the door to WD's City of the Dead after dark that the party had to get in because one of our number was dead and "we have to put her back."

Many good times.

Making Burts PC Nephos say Please before Garlus gave him his spellbook back. That was Epic.

Maeredhel climbing 100 ft of rope attached to a grapple sunk in ice on the Fourthpeak Glacier. An orc above (along with a dozen other orcs) cut the rope. As Maeredhel was falling, he launched a fireball mid-flight (making his concentration check) and burned the orc to a crisp. The orc then fell like a meteor along with Maeredhel, who was falling to his death.

Aglaril then casts web, to try to catch Maeredhel, but the webs part due to the force, only slowing Maeredhel's fall. Talindra then catches Maeredhel and both are knocked unconscious by the blow. The orc plummets like a meteor, breaking through the ice, causing the sheet of ice we're standing on to break.

Talindra and Maeredhel begin to slide off of the ice, unconscious, toward the icy waters. Aislinn lassos them both with a rope and pulls them toward her, off of the tilting ice sheets, then casts a dimension door and drags Talindra and Keren through, leaving Aglaril and Maeredhel behind, hoping that Aglaril can get a scroll of Dimension Door off of Maeredhel's unconscious form and door he and Maeredhel out.

Some details of the above encounter have been left out, due to the ongoing plot nature, but the specifics of the excellent imagery from OGR/Curmudgeon and the other players involved in this little slice of primarily roleplay driven combat was amazing to all of us. We loved it.

Playing my level 1 ranger Elrien while Virvaldin played Storm Silverhand on Shadowdale. Storm told us a story of herself camping with her lover in the forest where he had to ask her to leave for her own safety and not come back. She asked all the assembled pcs, "if this was you, what would have been the one last thing you said to him?" Elrien said "Please come with me", Storm said, "But you know he couldn't" and El said "but i would say it anyway"

Virv awarded me my first xp ever in Alfa (this was long before rpxp) and I was hooked on this "new" kind of gameplay.

Other than that, keeping GlassRain up from 7pm on a Friday night, until 11am Saturday morning with intense (non cybor, tut you!) rp for no other reward than the story we wove together. (We wrote a story about it afterwards, it's in the library- Sacred Heart)

Thangs' Virile Monks of Gloin.

Playing the Cyric High Priestess on Selgaunt and telling PCs who had snuck in to rescue children to "Stop" just as they were about to make their exit. The terror was palpable :-)

There are many others, but these always stick out in my mind :-)

The day in which Trapper Wind gave birth to her half-elf son in the Song of the Morning holding her best friend Zalanthe's hand. And on this day did Chauntea's avatar come and turn her her two best men (Laque and Lettinus) into fuzzy woodland creatures and bestow her blessings upon that child. As when Laque (returned from fuzzy bunny-hood) did one of his best speeches ever while holding the baby showing he really was'nt the racist bastard that he pretended to be for the sake of the elves.
Via DM Mick and Danielmn

As a Dm the days all pile up in my mind.

Madeline's baby Rosa being born, then watching her die from it in a dramatic climax. Jonathan's resulting quest into the belly of a volcano with Hully by his side to get just one dragon scale to save her.

Watching Persephone, Aelenthyi, and Zyrus swat down all my uber vampire lords like flies on a Halloween night as Caer Calidyrr was invaded by zombies and the castle quarter locked down.

Three weddings! Olaf and Brenna, Jon and Madeline, and Drake and Elektra.

Hyme's Dwarf pissing in a portal only to get set on fire by the Lich inside

:coffee: Being told I am amazing Dm, and "how did I ever think of that!?" when I really just rolled out of bed half-awake with no plan and just a cup of coffee for the first four hours of the event.

DM'ing memories...

DM'ing low level pcs was always fun. Its like watching toddlers run into each other. :D

+ when pc thought outside of the box, to solve a problem.

+ when pcs happily chatted with an NPC for hours on end because the conversation is rewarding.

+ custom building a unique area, then seeing how pcs interact/solve/get lost by it.

+ running events which took pcs to their limits, and occasionally beyond (beware the high crit weapons!).

(me apologises for any dm'ing that may not have happened in ALFA2 due to burnout)

Dawn's journey was indeed special, thanks more to everyone who helped make it happen (DMs and players alike) than anything I did. Her final days with Corio before she committed suicide by KiS were some of the best I've had in ALFA.

The lens of nostalgia is powerful, however, and I would be negligent to not mention my time playing with Arana back in the days of NWN1. Loxy and Arana were thick as thieves (and, coincidentally, were thieves at least in part.) Their story ranged all over, but the seminal moment happened on Loudwater.

Loxy had been fished from the river where the Banites of Evro's amazing war had dumped her, blind and barely alive. Arana nursed her back to health only to murder her with poison when Loxy suggested she surrender herself for her role in causing the war. It was a session that lasted until five in the morning and which transpired with nary a DM in sight. It was consensual CvC to the death with no DM and no fighting and which happened because that is where the story led. Both players thrilled at the entire event and mourned for the loss. Easily my best ALFA moment. Fortunately, their story was able to continue later (thanks Lou!!), but neither of us knew it would at the time. Not a single XP was to be had for the whole thing either. Its own reward indeed.

Two that I can't believe I forgot.

Lordpyschos Puzzle Tower in the city of the dead in Waterdeep. Best dynamic between good and evil groups I have ever seen, both competing to reach the bottom first, trying to figure out the clues before the other.

Performing the flirtatious and laughter filled 'Chase' during Greengrass on Northern Cormyr with Lou, Veilan and others. Running freely across the server without clothing or weapons was both thrilling and awesome all at once. Sneaking our naked PCs around a warcamp of Purple Dragons near Arabel as they prepared to go assist Silverymoons Shade War stands out in memory.
