Re: PA Questions for FoamBats4All
Thanks for the answers, you sure seem to be on the receiving end of a flurry here FoamBats!
For what it's worth, I agree on a system that deals with static abuse, at least light static abuse, by scripting. At least as long as it doesn't rely on local per-quest implementation (maybe I'm underestimating our build teams, but I just don't see changing every existing quest script to comply happening). As the discussion here about you "being lightly spanked" shows, whenever we need to go to persecution and punishment, no matter how symbolic a slap on the wrist the punishment ends up deing, it propagates a wave of negativity into the community. So upping the bar on when PA persection action is needed is very important.

Some maybe. Then again, there's a difference between stubbornness and discussion. So far this seems to be discussion. My mother and step-brother are the epitome of being stubborn in arguments, so I know the difference.Castano wrote:This is really divisive guys. It makes people not want to contribute.

I've been holding off on asking a couple questions in here while I thought about what your intentions are...
You say you wish to put in a tech system to 'remove farming'. Do you plan to instate a clear and non subjective boundary and rules that take into account IC motivations and OOC time and timezones with this system? Will it be one size fits all, or will you allow for tailoring to individial GSIDs with room to adjust from PC to PC?

Re: PA Questions for FoamBats4All
All the proposals out of the technically minded people (foam/dan/zelk etc.) I have seen discussed eliminate the need to adjust each static by the build teams. Maybe this has changed, but I doubt anyone is putting forward a proposal that each server edit their statics. That would be a non-starter.t-ice wrote:as long as it doesn't rely on local per-quest implementation (maybe I'm underestimating our build teams, but I just don't see changing every existing quest script to comply happening).

In addition to my other questions:
(on a side note I think you would make a great seco
)
Cheers.
Do you feel this is appropriate way of dealing with people? If you are elected to PA will you be dealing with disgruntled parties in this manner?FoamBats4All wrote:Any other bullshit to fling around in this topic?
ALFA has some things about it that can be fixed/improved. I don't see the need to make up issues that only exist when you derive them from your rectum.

Cheers.

Oh, and I'm sure Dan would agree with me when he says the roll of PA is all about bashing your head against bricks. Disgruntled people happen far too often.MaxBogs wrote:In addition to my other questions:

Considering such limits would still generally fall under the DMAs area, I am not sure how the PA could be responsible for answering this.Adanu wrote:You say you wish to put in a tech system to 'remove farming'. Re: PA Questions for FoamBats4All
You're missing the point. A system like the one FOam is interested in would need to do that in order to maintain IC and OOC fairness. Just because something falls under another admins field does not mean that admin can't pitch in, Swift.Swift wrote:Considering such limits would still generally fall under the DMAs area, I am not sure how the PA could be responsible for answering this.Adanu wrote:You say you wish to put in a tech system to 'remove farming'. Re: PA Questions for FoamBats4All
Whether it needs to or not is up to the DMA and the Tech teams. The Player Admin has never had the speed of advancement or static quest restrictions as part of their portfolio, thats always been DMA.Adanu wrote:You're missing the point. Re: PA Questions for FoamBats4All
If you two would bother to read my previous responses, I have already addressed this.
As said yesterday, no question-answering today. I'll get to those posted tomorrow.
