Two haks have been updated:
ahp_3.0_2da.hak (now 23,821,537 bytes)
ahp_3.0_place2.hak (now 175,027,667 bytes)
(Those who have gone without updating for more than two months will also have to update ahp_3.0_items2.hak)
And there isa new talk table:
alfa_1_6.tlk
As before, the two download locations for these, or the smaller "update" files. In either case, the tlk is a separate download:
http://bgalfa052.free.fr/Haks/3.0/ -- Hialmar's mirror (Euro)
http://www.dannyyun.com/ALFAHAK -- Jayde's mirror (U.S.)
And the ALFA Hak page, including instructions on installing the "update" files, is here:
http://www.alandfaraway.org/docs/Player/ALFAHaks
If you are unsure of whether a hak you have is updated, open it with nwhak.exe and compare its listed file size to that listed above.
Updating Server-Side
Load the module on a computer with updated haks.
Create a module integer named alfa_mobility
--- If your server would like climb and jump scripts to fire upon loading, without DM intervention, set this value to 1.
--- If your server would like climb and jump scripts not to fire upon loading, until DM intervention, set this value to 0.
(it should be noted that, in either option, flight has been relegated to "By DM intervention only" per DMA ruling.)
For Builders Unaccustomed to Variables: Go to module properties, click the advanced tab, and click the "..." button next to "Variables." In the new window, type alfa_mobility into the Name field, set the pulldown menu to "int," then type 1 or 0 into the value field and click "Add." The variable should be added to the list at the top of this window.
Modification to Climbing, Jumping, and Flying
Players will note that, by default, it is again impossible to climb cliffs and jump chasms unless specifically allowed by a DM. It should be noted that this change was objected to, and petitions to have it reinstated should be sent to the DMA.
DMs will notice a new option on the DM wand, granting access to the specifics of the movement scripts. The capacity to specify climb DCs, enable/disable movement scripts, facilitate PC flight, and measure distances are all tucked away under the option.
DMs will also notice a very slightly modified DM wand on the palatte, using the Activate Item (Long Range) instead of the Unique Power activation. This saves the annoyance of attempting to target a moving object, and allows the distance measurement option to have more utility.
Spanking New Radial Menu Option: Charge Attack
For those who don't know the PnP rules of a charge, it goes thusly:
- You must have a straight line of space between yourself and your opponent.
- You must be weilding a melee weapon.
- You must be at least 30' (one tile - I know this is deviant from PnP, but in NWN scale, this is a very easy distance to put between yourself and a target) away from your opponent.
If all of these conditions are met, you get to scamper at your opponent, with a bit of a speed boost, and make an attack with +2 to damage. You take -2 to your armor class for a round, and you are restricted to only 1 attack/rd when making a charge attack.
I know, that doesn't sound all that special (unless you're thinking "I have a dagger and 14 str, and this goblin has 5 hit points... I want to be sure.") but!
If you are weilding a lance and are on horseback, you do double damage with a charge.
If you have the Sprited Charge feat and are on horseback, you do double damage with a charge.
If you are weilding a lance, have the Spirited Charge feat, and are on horseback, you do triple damage with a charge.

- Mounted Combat has been added to the haks. Because it cannot have the same effect as mounted combat in PnP (as horses are not targetable), it instead grants bonus AC vs. attacks of opportunity while mounted (does not stack with mobilty).
- Ride By Attack has been added to the haks; it spares a mounted fighter from attacks of opportunity while charging.
- Spirited charge has been added to the haks; its function is described above.
- A Fly spell has been added (sor/wiz 3) -- It does not, however, replace Freedom of Movement as the level 3 travel domain spell (as PnP lists do). Also note that it does not have functionality without DM support (see movement scripts, above.)
- The Longstrider spell (Ranger 1) now works. (before, it gave fruitless VFX)
- There is a Bonus Feat: Fly option on items now. It's needed for game mechanics, but it should not be added to items as a permanent property.
- Similar things can be said for Bonus Feat: Levitate, Bonus Feat: Water Breathing, and Bonus Feat: Swim Speed
- Disguise Self is now on the Trickery domain as a level 1 spell.
- Pixies (via polymorph), Ravens, and Bats (via wildshape) now gain a bonus feat that can identify them as flying to scripts.
- Existing shapechanging modes should no longer remove the movement scripts from quickslots.
- Lances are now, appropriately, martial weapons, and do 1d8 piercing damage (instead of 1d10 S/P damage)
- A display bug related to the Alter Self spell has been fixed.
- Sorcerers will now get the appropriate number of known cantrips after level 8. (high level Sorcerers will find themselves prompted to expand their level 0 lists upon their next level up.)
- Paladins and other characters immune to fear will no longer be able to be shaken by dragon fear.
- The foot models added in the August hak update will now be selectable in the pulldown menus in the toolset.
There seems to have been a scattershooting of bug reports based on updates with the last one, so, if you see anything buggy once you and your server update, take a screenshot and PM me. If the bug is related to game mechanics, save a local copy of your character and have that ready, too.
If Additions Are Requested
PM that to me, too. As a rule, and I'll finish whatever project I'm currently working on before taking up a new one, but I promise that fixes and improvements will be lopsided if the only ones going in are the ones BB, Electryc, and I find on our own.
