Bringing back inactive members to ALFA...

Just a thought I've been mulling over for the last few days.
Does anyone else think it would be worthwhile to put together a promotional, old memories and reminiscence-filled email and sending it out to all of the board members, in an attempt to get some of our inactive members to return to active status?
My thoughts, which, admittedly, may have some unforeseen flaws, are that even if it brought back a handful of people it would be more than worth the effort.
Thoughts?

This was what White Warlock intended to do.
He has installed a forum extension that enable us to do it.
We just need someone talented to write the message *gently nudges Wynna*.
You don't want a frenchie to write such a message

*orders some freedom fries with her spam.
Seriously, I can see the numerical benefit for this. My hatred of spam makes it very hard to consider, though. Let me think about whether I want to prostitute my values for the good of ALFA.

Mebbe if it wasn't worded like advetisement?
"Oh hay just letting all of our old members know that we're not dead yet, and oh hay lookee concrete NWN2 live date." seems much less spam-ey.

Yeah, just one email, a week or two before we go live to let everyone who's registered know. I don't think that qualifies as spam.

All the old members are better PGers than me. Hence this is a terrible idea.

In addition to advertisements, I also respond well to candy.
Give me candy, and I shall return.
All your candy are belong to Amar!

I played almost exclusivly on the OAS and DM'd there for a bit before dissapearing to RL and other games.

Having spent 18 months away from alfa myself, I know that a quick email to inform me of the state of such a major development as NWN2 Live would have been well-received instead of a bother. In my opinion, spam is only spam if it is not appreciated.

Same here! I had a total playtime of about 1,5 year but been away for several months now. Been checking back now and then but just noticed we're near a launch for NWN2. This is more than welcome news and I'm certainly going to get involved again. First I'll get my hands on the expension and try to have everything started up again! I'll spend some time on IRC and read my ass off to get back in.
Now to get back on topic, an e-mail to inform me of a closing live-date would be more than welcome and not even to be called 'spam'.
Looking forward to playing here again!

If my splipshod videocard was working correctly I would be playtesting already. I tried to log on the OAS and my character looked like a mess of polygons *sigh*. Well, soon enough the problem will be fixed, but I can't say I have much time to commit, but I'll be around soon enough for some fun.
