Amar Q&A (Was No Right Choice)

Post by Amar »

So far in this election cycle we've got two joke nominations, and one serious one.

While I do actually have within my head some small portion of trust (about 3%) that NJ could potentially do a decent job, his platform looks more like hes asking a couple friends to run a tabletop game than actually stepping up to lead a community of 100-300 gamers to a better game.

So what do we do when no choice is good?

At this rate I should go ahead and nominate myself. My platform:
Spoiler:
Hi, you know me, I'm that jackass kid who whined a lot about Thrasy picking on me years back.

I'm an asshole, im irresponsible and don't stick to my plans. And between school, work, and about 75 hours a week of work for my local Camarilla chapter i really dont have the time for any of you or this project. I can however pop in every few hours to the forums, answers questions that need to be answered, and set up teams of people who are actually enthusiastic about this project enough to get things moving in the right direction.

If so elected, I would act as an intermediary between people who all have great ideas for the community but don't have enough of a large vision to act as a leader.

I would act in an official capacity only as a voting party among the admin, would avoid use of the veto, and would aid all of our members in getting their ideas in front of the admin for review and discussion.
There, a rough draft of my platform. And already it doesnt stink near so much as what I'm seeing right now. Somebody who doesnt have to plead to people that they wont abuse the position for half of their platform should run, so I dont have to.

Because lets face it, Im too damn lazy to be adding anything else to my plate these days.

I dunno. I see suspiciously few people dropping out of the race for those nominations to be "jokes." Perhaps more research is in order before attempting to belittle my platform of terror like so many whiney American politicians.

Your platform of terror is laughably pathetic, and not nearly so devastating as you may think. While you may be scaring away the goodies, those of us who have revelled in the dark side for so long now will simply find you pathetic and cute.

Kitten and Puppy slaughter is a move made by those who have not yet tasted true evil.

well well, look who is so full of himself. Whatever made you think you are fit to judge, it was mistaken.

That statement flows both ways fluff, you have no more ability to judge me than I have to judge anyone else on here.

You and I both use the best of our abilities to make judgement calls in this forum. I just happen to not care about how people think about me, and act like an arse on here.

Thanks for the 3% ... frankly I'm surprised I got that even.

So from what I am gathering, if no one else runs, and none of the candidates get a vote of confidence then the position is left vacant and its duties are absorbed by the other Admin.

Maybe that's not a bad thing?

Zelk's platform is entertaining, Mord doesn't seem to have a platform yet... but does have a symbiotic running mate.

I haven't heard a lot of encouragement for my bid, so Amar may be right in the request to see another member self nominate...

Vendrin? ran last time... I would enjoy debating against him.

Wynna? is retired...but maybe with some bribery? I would withdraw if she came out of retirement...well maybe ;)

AL? I would withdraw if he stepped up...

BrokenBone? I would withdraw if he stepped up...

Chamu? I would withdraw if my boss (again not Zic :P ) ran...

MShady? I wouldn't withdraw because I would have fun debating with Chuck Norris.

Fluffmonster? Has lulled me into a false sense of believing he is right all the time...I would do battle with the Fluffstapo and his fashionable dressed zombie minions.

Who am I forgetting?

You just moved up to 5% confidence. You know when you've been beat.

I haven't been beat, I am just conceding that I am not the "best" person for the job, as there are others that are better suited to do it...if they run I will step aside.

As for the current candidates, I do believe that I will be able to do more good for ALFA than Mord or Zelk, as their platforms currently stand. If they submitted something that seemed more reasonable I may rethink that.

I also think it would be better to have me serving ALFA as the LA than add more work to the currently seated Admin.

Do I still get the 5%?

Yes, as that is specifically what I meant. You know the circumstances under which you would be beaten.

Not to comment on the thread subject, but just to correct this. Vote of Confidences are only needed when there is only ONE candidate running. As there are currently more than one, simply beating your opponents counts as a vote of confiedence. SO Nalo, unless two of you three withdraw, then we will see someone been elected. It's got a certain element of sillyness to it, but it's worked for nearly 5 years now.

ahh thanks for clearing that up for me. It seemed silly for 3 people to run and no one to get elected. *listens to carnival music*

"Best of our abilities" to judge others is a big difference between you and I, but this is not the issue. I didn't make a big arrogant show of calling the candidates incompetent, you did. Its not even clear that either is incompetent, neither having held an admin position before. Its not clear that either would be an abject failure as you claim. You didn't speak truth, all you did was thread-crap in a full-of-yourself way.

When more than one person runs, SOMEONE will get elected. There is nothing in the Charter that allows for a 'vote of confidence' when more than 1 person is running.

You vote for the person you would like to see. Or perhaps don't vote for the two you would not like to see more than the other.

Firstly, I reccomend a study of logic and/or rhetoric. You use the No True Scotsman fallacy: a distraction from a conceptual argument through use of an adjectival intensifier that attempts to make the argument semantic. It has failed.

Secondly, the plebians do not speak charlatan. I shall translate for their sake.

Okay, I'm going to comment, despite saying I wouldn't...

I really do think people's concerns about Nalo are a bit amiss. Sure, Nalo can be an annoyinng asshole sometimes - he has a tendency to go on and on and on and on and on about an issue. He comes up with these strange ideas that no one either (a) agrees with, or (b) understands. But in the end of the day, he is someone who is willing to put his head down and work. For example, he's is currently our only active OAS DM, and has been as long as I have been Admissions head. When he suggests something, he will stick to his guns, and not fold up as soon as there comes a bit of work. And as far as I am concerned, if someone comes up with 100 ideas, and 99 of them are absolute shit, they at least have contributed 1 good idea. And contributing 1 good idea is a fuck load more than most people who are saying how terrible Nalo is have done over the last few years.

Of Nalo's platform, I agree with 3 of his 5 points. 2 out of those 3 I feel either don't fit in the LA domain or will get done even if we didn't have a lead admin elected. But the final one, Public Relations, is something Nalo can do. This past month or so, Nalo is the only person I know of who has made any sort of efforts at PR - and it's not even his "job". He has a tonne of ideas of how to go about public relations - some of which would really benefit the community.

So if Nalo can come along and get our public relations running again, he is by far better than any joke candidate, or anyone who will be running simply because they don't like Person X. So as Admissions Head, at this point, I'm going to be voting for Nalo.
