Get a better connection or speak with someone in tech to try and find out what the issue may be?

It is not perfect but numerous other members get far quicker speeds than that. I normally sit around 200kbps.

I should put this somewhere for future reference.

If you have a bad connection to Europe (which hosts the first download server).
You can switch to the US download server by doing the following:

1- find your hosts file using this Wikipedia page

2- add this to the bottom of the file:

Code: Select all

206.188.193.233 download.alandfaraway.org
91.121.115.201 download2.alandfaraway.org
Edit: it's here now:
http://www.alandfaraway.org/node/2431
and linked from the technical documentation and the common problems thread in the technical helpdesk (New Players section of the forums).

That worked perfectly. For future reference you may want to let folks know that you have to open the hosts file while running notepad as an admin. Else, thou art not able to save changes. But I went from 30 kbps to 900 changing it.

Umm...
und_t2_throrgar_top_west.trx was downloaded successfully, but it can't be verified. Please contact the server administrator at techadmin@alandfaraway.org.

That area had a recent update (as its part of an ongoing construction project by one of the server's factions). However I just deleted and re-verified that file on my machine without issue. Try deleting C:\Users\Username\Documents\Neverwinter Nights 2\modules\alfa010_bg\und_t2_throrgar_top_west.trx, and re-joining the server?

I suspect the mirror download site does not have the most current version of the walkmesh in question. There used to be an active link that told the secondary server to update itself to reflect the primary one, that may need to be clicked; otherwise the secondary site may need to be manually updated if those scripts are no longer working.

Basically, the "default" downloader is picking up the right version, the "alternative" one that is faster for mother is giving a conflicting version. Should be a straightforward fix.

[edit: mother can move/rename/disable that hosts file temporarily to get the right version, if he reads this before the central versions are updated]

Mirror command seems to be failing, will file a ticket.

Manually updated the file in question to the backup ADL server. Try again, please?

I have also corrected the mirroring script and it uploaded quite a bit of files.
