Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition

Greetings Everyone,

Pardon my dropping in unannounced *brushes off dust from ALFA account*, but I happened across an announcement from Beamdog Games that I thought the rest of you might be interested in:

Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition

There is also a FAQ that goes into greater detail on the new features and changes.

I'm unsure of the current state of the ALFA community, though I noticed some threads discussing a possible official move away from NWN/NWN2 to a new game platform. I personally don't have much time in general to game these days myself, but I would be curious to know if there is any interest or intent in restoring one or two of the old "original" ALFA servers on the NWN:EE platform, given that it looks like it will support all the modules, haks, and other custom files?

Good to see you, Kalev. The current state of our community is that it needs you to roll up a PC and log in!

I am watching to see what happens with the new enhanced version, but would likely be a major overhaul to make work.

More likely I will try and get a second server up (undermountain) and see if we can transfer chars between.

My machine could host if needed.. it's not running anything but DF.

Backwards Compatibility: Works with save games, modules, and mods from the original Neverwinter Nights. A galaxy of community created content awaits.
Seems what it boils down to is simply some changes to the available graphics mode and some other minor polishes. I am still very excited, I never really warmed up as much to NWN 2 as 1, and this may be a real shot at growing, exciting and especially involving our player base. NWN 1 has the far bigger community and the sustained success of WD makes a compelling argument.

I doubt the changes will apply to our custom tilesets, but may be mistaken. As such I will probably need to rework a number of areas

WD didn't use as many custom tilesets as later mods like Daggerford.

Heh, if you can make it so that there are an additional 8-12 hours in a standard day, permanently remove my need to sleep, and/or make me independently wealthy; then maybe I'll be able to do just that ;) :P

Really good to see familiar names still kicking around though. Hope you're all well!

What?! Crazy! Old NWN1 servers? That almost sounds tempting over the summer holidays. Time to see if I've still got my old CDKeys.
