Re: Waterdeep Tavern Tales & Rumors
*Cullen the Minstrel spends several evenings going around to taverns in the Docks, Trade and Adventurers quarters. Selune's Smile, The Hanged Man, The Safehaven Inn and the Beer Golem all resound to an anthemic tune. If any Dwarves are present, he encourages them to provide a rhythm section with their ale mugs*
The tune he sings is here: http://www.alandfaraway.info/phpBB3/vie ... =6&t=52261
If questioned on the provenance of his song, the minstrel smiles and shrugs.
"I pick up story ideas all over the place. Be careful! You never know when you might be providing song-fodder!"

Apparently Cullen has a new biggest fan in Thorv, who follows him around for a few nights, clapping, singing along, and watching how the song is received.Twilighteyes wrote:*Cullen the Minstrel spends several evenings going around to taverns in the Docks, Trade and Adventurers quarters. After sampling all the ales in every tavern, Thorv declares that the city is in dire need of a dwarfern owned and operated drinking establishment.

The underdark tavern? Bar was tended by gnomes.Arianna wrote:Pretty sure there is a Tavern that ONLY allows dwarves and maybe gnomes in
Felzoun's folly had a dwarf behind the bar, but his drink selection was very Waterdeep and not at all dorfy.

Re: Waterdeep Tavern Tales & Rumors
A nobleman and his wife complained to the City Watch that they were nearly mowed over by an ox cart barreling through the Temple district this afternoon. The reckless driver, a big bearded man was along with a dwarf (with an even bigger beard).
The two shouted profanities and "Make Clear!" ... "Get out the way!" as the cart careened around corners finally coming to a stop outside the Tower of Luck.
The pair quickly pulled a fresh corpse from the back of the cart and hustled in to the Temple of Tymora, dragging the body inside.
A group of young women, gathered outside awaiting their turn to make pledge for luck, seemed to recognize the fallen man.
One of the girls exclaimed, "Is that Jack Hull? The singer of the Sea?..... I know him!"
Another, looking suspiciously at the first woman said "It most certainly is. .... And I know him too .... I know him quite well!"

This is brilliant.
There's a place I like to hide
A doorway that I run through in the night
Relax child, you were there
But only didn't realize and you were scared
It's a place where you will learn
To face your fears, retrace the years
And ride the whims of your mind

Relax child, you were there
But only didn't realize and you were scared

"Having an adventure shows that someone is incompetent, that something has gone wrong. An adventure is interesting enough in retrospect, especially to the person who didn't have it; at the time it happens it usually constitutes an exceedingly disagreeable experience." Vilhjalmur Stefansson

Re: Waterdeep Tavern Tales & Rumors
A fine wake was held for Thorv Melairkyn, dwarf of many fights and ales.
His friend Cullen sang the following for the fallen one...
"Lofty Dreams"
Strong and hairy, tried and true
It's quite hard to bid adieu
He struck down danger that made me scream
A dwarf so grounded yet with lofty dreams
He brought light into dark corners
Never thought to be one of his mourners
He fought beetles and gobbos and ghosts
Always deadly, making good on his boasts
Ah the light in his eyes when he made a jest
He'd always tip minstrels so he was the best
Between him and Murgen, whose farts smelled the worst?
Trailing along behind them, you really could feel cursed
Through storm and struggle, Thorv was the finest mate
He would drink all the ale, balance the mug on his pate
So here's to him, warrior, dreamer and friend
We all shall miss Thorv, fierce and brave to the end!
