Best Vista Motherboard??

Post by MorbidKate »

I've been given an Core 2 Duo E6700 so I'm planning to upgrade/switch from my AMD X2 4600 but can't decide what's the best motherboard to get. I'm looking for something that's as future proof/upgradeable as possible so I'm considering the Asus P5B Premium Vista Edition.

Are there any better options out there???

TIA.

Id go with it. I have the standard ASUS P5B and it comes quad core ready, so thats all im worried about.

If you really want futureproof, then go with something that supports DDR3 memory, though DDR3 memory is still horribly expensive and it is debatable whether it is actually better than DDR2 atm.

It isn't, really. I'd go with the P5B that has got the features you want/need and then get two sticks of quality DDR2 RAM.

Okay, picked up the Asus P5B Vista Premium. Can anyone recommend a brand and model of DD2-800 memory to drop in it? Looking at going with 2GB in total but the memory listing in the manual is a bit confusing. I'd hate to buy new memory and have it default to a slower speed.

Advice anyone??
