Well, the weekend was a lot of fun, and thank you to those who could make it! A few others wanted to come but couldn't; hopefully you can make the next one! Maybe in a couple months, we can start planning again.
Anyhow, here are some pictures from the weekend!

Our group in a Japanese Sushi Restaurant (mmmmm) called Haro's in Times Square. And yes, it was expensive! From left to right: AcadiusLost, Loulabelle, Twin Axes, Twin Axes' wife, Legionnaire, Paazin.

Acadius and Lou ... Oh the options! *as Acadius continues to stare at the menu* So many ...

Paazin: werd

This is a tower shield. Now where's a Dorf to weild this thing ...
Acadius has a few others so stay tuned ..

Legio, what can I say? I owe you an ale drinking contest big time!

Yes, it was a very pleasant experience getting together. I'm glad you guys made it to both the Metropolitan and the Cloisters next day, they are two treasure troves for the medieval/fantasy struck.
You were missed, Maxcell, and one of the reasons I used to convince my girlfriend to tag along was that you would be bringing your better half to commisserate with her. Still, she had a good time too (she's a good sport, I have even played some NWN with her. I am lucky). Anyway, I heard you had quite valid reasons for not making it. Next time round hopefully!

Finally back in California now, though not back to Davis yet. Had a great time meeting those who made it out, though. I'll post a few pictures of my own once I get home properly.
Many thanks to Maxcell, for helping us get organized, even though he couldn't make it in the end. Also to Legionnaire, for being our stalwart companion through countless miles of Manhatten wanderings. To Paazin, for braving the dodgy chinatown bus and the wonders of Canal Street despite recent illness, and to Twin Axes for excellent recommendations on saturday explorations. I hope groundwork was lain for future eastcoast endeavours, even if I end up well out of frequent-flyer range.

New York City, Manhattan: ALFAcon site.

The first gathering point (and the peak of our attendance) was at a very tasty (albeit also very expensive) sushi place near Times Square. There was rather poor lighting, and the food was good, so on my camera, only this one photo turned out to be of passable quality.

Lou is in the foreground, displaying premium ALFA-brand apathy by her wadrobe choice, with Twin Axes on her left, followed by Twin Axes' friend on the right. They couldn't wander around with the rest of us lot on saturday, but they highly recommended the Arms and Armor exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, as well as the Cloisters.
After leaving the restaurant, it was off for drinks and a quest to find Paazin a hotel room. We found a neat french cafe and bar, in which this singular, blurred photo evidences Paazin drinking some single-malt scotch, 12-year Glenlivet, if I recall correctly.

The next day; Legio, Paazin, Loulabelle and I set out to explore NYC a bit more. Little did we know, Mikayla or some feindish DM had put hostile spawns in the subway stations. Here was one, poised to attack.

For safety's sake, the party kept to the walls, so as not to be flanked. Note the alert posture and battle-ready stances.

Eventually our travels carried us to Fort Tryon Park, at the north edge of Manhattan. The high, rocky outcropping gave a good vantage point, so Legionnaire took some recon photos, as Paazin looked on.

However, Loulabelle was unfazed by such sights- she was ready for some adventuring.

Paazin had a plan, and it involved priceless medieval christian antiquities, namely those rumored to be hidden in chests and usable barrels inside The Cloisters.

They sent the cavalry out to fend us off, but to no avail.

However, Legionnaire warned us to be careful, as he'd spotted a high-level mage among their number.

Sure enough, a prismatic spray was cast at the party: luckily both Paazin and Loulabelle made their saving throws, and averted their eyes.

Against all odds, we did manage to secure mystic wards to pass- luckily, they didn't even take an inventory slot to equip as they were small yellow pips, as shown here by lou, wearing hers clipped to another necklace.

As a bonus, we discovered they also served to allow safe passage into the ancient netherese tomb that had been moved painstakingly, stone by stone, into "safe" storage inside the Metropolitan Museum east of Central Park. (or was it a Mulhorandi tomb?)

Legionnaire was introduced (subjected) to the Dungeons & Dragons cartoon series on DVD, more bagels were consumed... but as all things must come to an end, we parted ways, perhaps to meet again at another time and place. But before the trip was over, Loulabelle and I made it out to see the sunset from the Empire State Building, which was a nice finish to the weekend's sightseeing.
