New Zealand's second ever time in the world cup (last was... 1982, maybe?). Heard a perfect analogy yesterday about the way Kiwis are viewing this world cup. Like an old, sick man, who has enjoyed his life and is pleased he got that far. He wakes up each day, happy to be alive. That's exactly the same with us - it's a case of great, we made it that far. what i find amazing is not the fact that english goalkeeper fumbled the ball and gave usa a tie... it's the fact that i watched the game in what could only be described as a redneck bar, country music, nascar and all... and there were people watching the game and cheering. what's next? nfl will change the name of their game?!

I watched 5 minutes on a live stream and then turned it off, not because of the game, but because of the noise.

The constant drone of the vuvuzela simply makes it unwatchable for me

Vuvuzela is the hot debate over here, many people are outraged, some people blow it (the vuvuzela you pigs...) on Berlin's streets.

I don't watch ballfoot, I'm not really that interested in it, but of the few minutes I did catch of the England v USA game the howl of the airhorns gave me a droning headache. Christ alone knows how anyone can concentrate with that noise resonating your skull.

Some hearing center in sweden has rated them at 127 decibels when right next to your ear (not hard when the bloke sitting behind you has one) which is 27 decibels louder than a chainsaw. Stores all around the grounds cannot keep up with the demand for ear plugs.

I'm cheering for Germany but was really impressed by the quality of play from the Argentine squad.

I have to turn my sound way down to deal with that droning noise. I'd much rather hear the usual football cheers and songs. Oh well, when in Pretoria...
