The wrong name
I don't like being harassed because I picked 'the wrong' name. So I picked an Arabic name for a calimshan character. So it was the same name as a previous character. It was a pretty name and that was it. It was hardly intended to cause offense or distress and was quite a nasty blow when all I wanted was to join in the calimshan group and rp.

Re: The wrong name
Stick by your guns, ot. If you like the name, then use it. It isn't as if there aren't people in the real world with the same name as someone else......
Don't let the rampant douchebaggery that is current alfa ruin your day.

Having said that OT, if you make a PC to rp with a particular group, and that group turns out to be people you actually don't want to rp with, then cut your losses and move on.

Re: The wrong name
You are entitled to name your PC whatever you want OT (well, perhaps not every name is good ... like naming her Wild Wombat might be a bit over the top).
That said, perhaps a less public place might be more appropriate to try to resolve differences.

Re: The wrong name
I am pretty sure this has been resolved now, so all is good now.
Nothing to see here, move along. Look over there *points*!

I once named a PC in ALFA1 "Jared Bates" and another player who was playing his servant (Go evil religions!) who kept calling out "Master Bates! Master Bates!" in our hidden underground temple everytime he wanted something..
pragmatic (adj.)
The opposite of idealistic is pragmatic, a word that describes a philosophy of "doing what works best."
From Greek pragma "deed," the word has historically described philosophers and politicians who were
concerned more with real-world application of ideas than with abstract notions. A pragmatic person
is sensible, grounded, and practical.

i was recently accused of being rational... lol i know. but...
who does this?
who gets some well meaning advice and blows it up into harassment? name your toon whatever the hell you want if someone has an issue ic then it will be handled ic... maybe someone was trying to look out for you and let you know that as a group some persons are pretty hard core with their ic reactions, and didnt want you to have to learn the hard way. or hells maybe you have hooked up with the group in question and its all moot. either way blowing things up into super drama is lame you are a big boy or girl i assume.
p.s. and for the record my next toon will be called wild wombat
