(moved from off-topic forum)
Hello, all.
I'm hoping this is the right forum for this. I just wanted to say 'Hello', as I was recently accepted as a new member of ALFA. The RP101 classes were very helpful, and the DM run mini-adventures in the OAS helped me to get a feel for the whole ALFA organization and its expectations from players. I'd also like to thank the new OAS applicants who made the OAS an interesting and fun place to hang out. I'm sure many of you will soon be accepted. Good luck and best wishes. Special thanks to maxcell for the green light, and PensivesWetness for the soon-to-be-arriving haks and such required to play on the *woot!* member's servers.
Before I choose a starting server (or even creating a member's PC), I plan to do a lot of reading and planning. There's a lot of info to absorb, and I plan to enter slowly, and once I get all the haks and put some time into a good character, I'll be looking for a mentor. Also look forward to the classes that will help me fine-tune my RPing.
After all these things are done, I'll be looking forward to getting started, and meeting all the characters and personalities throughout Toril, finding an adventuring group that I'll fit into, and getting into the sweetspots of the ALFA community.
Any and all constructive criticism and/or general bits of advice are welcome. PM me here and I'll be sure to respond. Safe travels, and have fun.
Gary

Just a tip, since you said you'd be doing a lot of reading, planning etc.
Don't put too much work into your first PC, or perhaps write a detailed bio when he/she hits lvl 2.
First PCs tend to die soon sometimes.
Welcome and have fun!

Welcome aboard!
Look for Fizz in Waterdeep, many new level 1's there, and if you run into a twitching and fidgeting gnome in the big bad city.. he'll no doubt try and sell you a gold encrusted back scratcher!
