Any geezers from Haze here?

Post by fireprooftroll »

I'm not new to ALFA, though its been a while since I was here. Any old timers from Haze here at all? Brother Humphrey, are you here?

Good god!

Well. Its casper by the way. I've been trying to hunt down some of us oldies.
Tathkar seems to be on Tales of Moonsea.
Seter, Ani, Dorn, dark_majic, opheliate, sambuka, Pugdish, Rex, Foaloke are on Last Gate: Uncharted Midlands

Everyone else I've lost contact with. Its good to know some of you guys are in ALFA. BHumprey invited me over, so I thought I'll take a gander.

Where is Snowbleach? Jenssen? MColes? Homero? skyde? Isenheart? Aermord? Elgin Stormblade? SlyFox72688? NBoersma? BastianD?

Heh, if memory serves we had a second Dorn come along at one stage, who may (or may not) have been from Haze. But our Dorn is definitely still here. Or he best be... *goes to check to see if the Admissions cagelocks are still secure*

Isenheart's here. I can't believe Tathkar is putting up with ToM, I tried that for a bit until it became clear it was hopeless due to open respawn there.

I just couldn't stomach another gear retrieval mission where the respawned PC organizes a party to loot his own corpse :eew: .

Anyway, it's wonderful to here from you again, Casper. I'm really looking forward to seeing you IG soon.

P.S.: I rolled Rugo back up since he never died in Haze, but I reconfigured his bio a bit and he's turned out quite different this time around (you might want to talk to him a bit before making reservations with the gallowsman  ).

I'm going out on a limb here. I bought all the stupid NWN2 expansion packs to take a gander at ALFA.
I HATE NWN2.

Absolutely from the bottom of my heart LOATHE NWN2.

If ALFA doesn't do the job for me, I'm going to tell the truth and shove the CDs somewhere into the back of a cupboard some where and never touch it again.

Still, I miss the RP. I'm DMing on The Last Gate right now, which is a haze clone, and we freely admit to trying to be, and hopefully succeeding.

darn players gather around the fireplace still. Heh.

And I believe the old NWN list of players just got spammed with a "Haze 3.0 is coming, are you ready?"

Honestly, it was so long ago I can't remember who is administering it, but I think its Red.

NWN2 will grow on you after a while. I hated it at first as well. If you can imagine, it was much, much worse back when the game first launched.

Yeah, dunno what happened to the first one, and their website was good.
The active hazers are in ALFA, which is NWN2, or in TUM:LG, which is NWN.
Honestly, I wish we'd all gather together in one place.

Now, someone gives me a sales pitch here. TUM is very much a haze clone, with crafting, permadeath, low levels and low magic, and heavy on the RP, with stuff like hamlets and PC HLs, in this case Seter. Heh. Oh yeah, custom crafting.

And did I mention that its NWN? No REALLY horrible walk animations that make me feel like Michael Jackson.

What does ALFA has to draw me in? Is it my style of gaming? Is this an epic server or is it more "common" and down to earth? What are the level limits here? is there crafting? How far is PC leadership able to go?

How similar is it to haze? I have to ask since there are so many hazers here.

And I really want to chat with you guys. Its been what? 4-5 years?. Seter's running an IRC channel that is mostly just him and me...and him.

I'm not sure why you guys were never contacted. We were trying to get a pictorial style story of Haze going, using NWN as a medium. We wanted to "tell" the story of Haze in the form of screenshots. Here's an example.

http://www.nwvisuals.com/the-hobbit/the ... index.html
JRR's the Hobbit.

Alas, the effort petered out due to lack of contributions, though there were a few of us who tried.
Note that we werent' RPing then, just trying to screenshot scenes like a storybook

1) Excellent RPers, creative statics... 2) Yes...Both... 3) None that I know of (Rugo is L5 with L6 within sight [be afraid, be very afraid  ])... 4) No... 5) Similiar... 6) Different...evil, PvP, and warring factions are somewhat suppressed (but I'm willing to give it a try, evil and war can easily create problems (as you know, I think).

All in all, I'm having a great time and I think you will also, so quit asking questions and get IG

Corrections... Lvl 20 is the max.

Crafting is supported by dms. The crafting process is largely rp, no using items like armour molds, ingots ect.
