Re: Question time
While I can't offer any advice in regards to your building questions, I just wanted to say good to see you back Indio!
I happened to see Loulabelle on TSM the other day as well, it's great to see so many familiar faces returning!

Re: Question time
Hey Indio, nice to see you.
I'm always open for people pitching in and helping out with Western Heartlands. I'm afraid that I can't offer you any major landscape building projects as I've put a cap on how much I want to include in the first Live mod but I have lots of possible dungeon building you're welcome to go at, as well as all the p*ss-boring nit-picking bug-bashing anyone could possibly want.
And I could really do with an experienced DM on hand for advice on what's needed before we go Live.
Teric
P.S. Having said that including a slice of Waterdeep would tie all the current Live and Beta servers together nicely and you've done a deal of work on that already.

Good to see you Indio (Coach too)

Re: Question time
Thanks for the welcome back. I don't know if my relationship with technology has changed much. I play D&D with my boy now, but it's all paper and dice. I suspect I missed you folk more than the keyboard. I've got to consider Curm's PM reply, and then I'll be building again. Looking forward to it.

Re: Question time
We've been running stable with the 2 Live servers (TSM and BG) ever since Ayergo pushed BG through to Live-ness as DMA a while back. The other build "teams" have, for the most part, become semi-solo build projects or gone inactive; though Teric is pretty close with WHL.
011 Western Heartlands: built on the Live-worthy scaffold of the OAS2, Teric has been working on getting enough scripted / persistent / non-DM-required content in place to feel comfortable pushing for Live status. He was waiting on some tech fixes to implement certain systems, most of which he should have now. Still running PWCs for walkmesh, no ADL set up yet. I'd estimate 011 at late Beta1, nearly ready for Beta2
002 The Far North: Marklos has a build that has been hosted with some regularity, it's currently running outdated core scripts and hasn't been set up for ADL yet, but is also floating around the Beta1 area.
009 Moonshaes: Castano has been plugging away at this build project for a while and is beginning to host it regularly for beta testing; it still needs to be adapted onto the ACR base to get the core systems, spawns, etc working. Moonshaes has ADL set up for walkmeshes to facilitate testing. Once it's on the core scripts, 009 should be Beta1.
001a? Skullport: Faeryl picked up the reins of the Skullport project after she finished her time as Lead Admin, but got busy with other matters and didn't get very far with it. Sanderman I believe registered some interest in it on his return, but was directed towards helping BG out on the tech side to get familiar with the script systems first. I suspect the module itself is not much changed from the one you uploaded, Indio.
Haven't heard anything from other build teams in quite some time. Thangorn followed in your footsteps and stepped away from the tech in favor or athletic outdoor exploits, Cormanthor hasn't seen any activity in many many months now.
There are some infra issues regarding scaling up to more Live servers which Zic and I will have to look into, but there are a number of projects on the horizon which would likely welcome a dedicated builder; they also demonstrate that single-build projects aren't impossible; really they seem to be more the rule than the exception presently. So, if you've your heart set on starting something new, there are others around to trade tips with.
I'm hoping my planned updates of the core scripts for 009 and 002 help bring a workable, current basemod to fruition, as it ought to take some of the hassle out of serverbuilding.
Good to hear from you again, hope you find a happy niche building and/or DMing somewhere again; certainly your talents would be well appreciated by most any team.

Actually, AL, I'm fully 1.23-compliant including ADL updating and a previous DM Admin signed me off for Live several months ago.AcadiusLost wrote:011 Western Heartlands: built on the Live-worthy scaffold of the OAS2, Teric has been working on getting enough scripted / persistent / non-DM-required content in place to feel comfortable pushing for Live status. I'd guess it means you were cleared for Live in terms of "having enough content for Live"? IMO you've had that since before ALFA had any Live servers.

(Seriously though, if you're keen to go Live with WHL imminently, please let me know so we can work out how to handle the infra/vault/hosting situation ASAP)

Re: Question time
Not "imminently", but "soon", I hope. Obviously all interested parties can verify the mod in any way they want before then.AcadiusLost wrote:

Re: Question time
Welcome back Indio. Build it and I'll test it =)
Re: Question time
Had a great time wandering the server with Curm tonight. Many thanks. We talked about some DMing possibilities, and we're close to making some decisions.
Loved Wynna's travel map. Classy building.

WB Indio. Moonshaes can use your help.
If you like building landscapes I can give you your own island., otherwise there are plenty of one-off areas that need help. Rorax, Audark and David have been hard at it on the dungeon/dwarfhome front, but we can always use more.
I'd like to be live by summer if possible.
