East Coast ALFAcon: Spring 2010?

Post by AcadiusLost »

Getting to be about time for another attempt to gather some of our virtual acquaintances in a single physical location for social interaction not mediated by the NWN2 client or IRC (*gasp*).

Last year we did Charlotte, North Carolina. The year before it was Boston, and before that, New York City.

Who is interested for this year? And, what would be a good city to converge on this year?

Lou and I have a limited ability to put up a few guests if we wanted to try Historic Charlottesville in central Virginia (about 2 hours southwest of Washington, DC); as well as decent knowledge of local eateries and attractions. Also has it's own little airport (CHO).

Washington DC itself has lots to see and good public transit, though we don't know it as well, so it might be a bit more hit and miss unless we have DC residents interested in showing off the sights. Two major airports makes DC pretty easy to find a cheap flight into.

Other city recommendations? We're up to travel as well.

The WHEN is important as well: Memorial day (May 31st) might be a holiday for some of us, making Friday the 28th through Monday the 31st a possible block of time... but tickets/hotels might be pricier then as well. Sooner is certainly possible as well- let's get some interest registered and start narrowing things down.

Thoughts? Who is interested?

Boston is home base for me, but I have places I could stay in both the DC/Baltimore and Philly areas.

Memorial Day weekend is a possible. Early June works, too.

Hmm... i'm sorta planning to raid the East Coast, from Florida, all the way to Maine (some of my friends retired up there) when i finally go on Terminal Leave next month. So yeah, pick a place and i'll alter my travel plans and make the effort to rape & pillage in your neck of the woods... well, as much R&P a halfling and a couple rat familiars can do (i have a story running in my head about that)... :eew:

I am also probably available for convergence, given a fair decent radius from NC.

I might be able to make it (if I know about it, life has me pretty busy lately).

AL: Can you ping me if / when schedule / location finalized?

well pick a date and i'll be there (after the 13th of May, that is). i decided to postpone my raid up and down the sea board until July-August, to give me some time to actually learn how to be a civilian again...

but pick a time and i shall be there. i even volenteer my services as pick-up from what ever airport ends up being closest to the pR0n site (i'll just need a extra day or so to arrive on site. i presumme that Charlettesville will be the locale this year then?)

Charlottesville would be fun; though July-August can be pretty hot/muggy/stormy. Not the easiest place to get to either in terms of finding cheap plane tickets (though Richmond airport isn't bad at about an hour's drive away... Dulles is closer to 2-2.5h from Charlottesville. Our little local airport (CHO) is super-convenient, but can be pricy to fly into.)

I believe Lou and I are going overseas for a bit of July as well for a wedding... so that might complicate scheduling.

Is there interest in anything sooner, for May perhaps?
