SSD is not really required as basically a host computer has almost everything in RAM.

An SSD would only make it faster to load the module.
8Gb RAM would be better I think.
Granted, nwn2server cannot use more than 3Gb but the rest of the system can use the 5 other gigs.

@Basilica: we have lost contact with the former host.
Donrath was kind enough to host WHL while he didn't participate in the community anymore.
We asked him what happened through mail but have had no answer AFAIK.
I hope nothing bad happened to him IRL.

Since sometimes people ask for statistics etc., before getting excited about blowing actual hardware, electrical and connectivity money, even when WHL was up, for the entire month of March, there were only two player logins. One guy was logged in for less than a minute. Other guy, it was approximately 30 minutes across two logins.

There also seemed to be maybe 90 minutes of two DMs, presumably one giving a crash course to the other on DMing, though not coinciding with any players actually being around.

Heero's explained that the server is small, barebones, nothing much to do, and no DM team at the moment. No players are using the server. Rumple "almost" used it I guess for his campaign to travel around, but that'll be on hold pending RL travels I guess.

It is surprising anyone noticed that WHL is down, who missed it, other than Rumple?

I wanted to use it, then I decided to try and learn the lore on the server and apply for DMing there.

YOu wouldn't know this because I didn't announce it on the forum :D

There might be a HDM for WHL in the wings, lurking in the shadows... (no it's not me, and it's not confirmed yet so don't take me to town on this one)
Formerly: Aglaril Shaelara, Faerun's unlikeliest Bladesinger
Current main: Ky - something

Tech noticed! Mostly because I maintain a server monitor application.

I actually spent a day thinking that the monitor was busted and trying to debug it, heh.

I hope someone enthusiastic and motivated (with the know-how to work the toolset) can take the reigns of WHL. It is a nicely-built server with a good base to expand upon. It does, however, need a lot of work to bring it up a similar level of completeness as the other ALFA servers. It is very small, maybe not even 1/4 the size of any of the other servers, with roughly 30 areas, 10 added by me (currently un-linked from OLM for use specifically for DM adventures) before I stopped building, that can be used as adventure/DM encounter places aside from the usual towns/inns/taverns/etc (dunno why ALFA2-builders had such a fixation on building civilized crap rather than places for adventure). Current things to do without DM assistance, aside from ALFA-typical sit-in-tavern-talking-about-same-thing-over-and-over, amount to a few, one-off, fedex quests and wandering the OLM, hoping to get an encounter with some MONSTARS.

I really regret not being able to add-on as much as I had intended to make the server as nice as I had hoped, but...well...let's just say I lost steam. My contributions currently part of ALFA do amount to near 70 areas spread throughout the current live servers, most of which Ive never actually stepped foot in with a PC of my own, so its not like Ive simply built crap to make things more fun for me or even sat around telling y'all how you should be doing things differently to make things more fun for me (as is ALFANs wont - "I want" being the rallying cry) - heck, some of these areas even look okay.

So anyhow...

Ill just re-iterate that Teric has built a fine base for a NWN2 server. He is only one person (6 Teric's couldve produced 6x the server!) so it is very small, but there is room for improvement. Brokenbone speaks truly. The server has never gotten much use simply because there is not much there. Aside from a few people logging in for a few DM sessions, and a couple people logging in to kill randoms on the OLM from time-to-time, its been rather dead since its Live day. If someone wishes to take the reigns, more power to them, but it could really use someone who is motivated to spend time in the toolset building content, both areas and static stuff. Either that or a good team of very active DMs.

Good luck.

I see. Unfortunate that he's vanished.

(nwn2server can use 4gb with a 64-bit OS.)

yes I received the good news. It was mentioned to me there is some back end work needed?

Can someone check if it is hooked to the vault and playable? logging into quarantine should suffice.

VirtualBox is dead so I cannot connect the vault nor the database.

I will need to reinstall VBox first. I'll do it this evening.
