That's what I said in the Admin forum.

However, I can create any forums needed by our members and have always done so in the past.
I can also host any files related to ALFA on the website and that is what I did with the ALFA NWN1 haks.

Anyway, as far as I know Castano is for this initiative and even asked that we put up one of the NWN1 servers without password to attract more players to ALFA.

1) Castano gave the go ahead before I contacted Hialmar. Zelknolf originally told me about hosting the files on our website, and Castano said that if Hialmar could do so easily, to go for it. Hialmar was able to get it accomplished... I don't see the issue here.

2) This is a small experimental project, involving a rotation of our old NWN1 servers. There will be a local vault on the server, but no linked vault is planned (like our NWN2 vault). Persistence... I think Ronan is going to leave the server running 24/7, not sure what the issue is here either.

My remaining questions are largely a matter of clarification for administrative purposes, in order to make sure that everyone is on the same page. Castano and I have been talking regularly about this and largely see eye to eye on things. My original idea for the project did not involve a HDM, but Castano brought it up, and I have asked for clarification. Simple as that. Hialmar seems to have no issues with the file support, and Zelknolf has mentioned not wanting to spend time away from NWN2. I believe Ronan can handle tech support issues as he is hosting this.

There is an obvious need for communication between anyone DMing or playing on servers that don't fit into our existing NWN2 forum structure. We used to have an enormous NWN1 section of the forums... I believe we are looking at adding three new ones. Again, I don't see the issue with adding a few forums, other than you seem to be against this side project.

Your hostile attitude toward Hialmar and I is probably one of the main reasons that the Admin are far more active in the hidden Admin forum than the public one. I realize that not everyone will see the value in doing something like this. As well, the whole thing may flop and be offline in a few months. Regardless of our various viewpoints, some civility would be appreciated.

Has anyone attempted to download and extract the files yet? Also, Hialmar added the music files as well, so everything you need should be on the Downloads page:

I believe I'm being plenty civil. Disagreement is not automatically uncivil. Hialmar made a snarky remark, I replied in equal snarkiness.

As for hidden admin forums... yeah. I've been there. They're as vile, if not more so, than the public forums. The only benefit of having it private is so that people can play normal political bullshit -- say one thing in public, do another in private. Been there, read that. Really wish that forum were publicly readable, would have done this community good.

Fair enough. I guess we just completely disagree on this. If this project appears to be damaging our community we can always pull the plug. I know that both Castano and I would be willing to do so, and we are mostly pursuing this because we feel it will benefit our community. The fact that there is so little overhead involved with this makes it very easy to try it out. I guess we will know in a month or two.

I can't see it doing anywhere near the damage that shutting the NWN1 servers down originally did, when we had many members leave simply because they did not have a computer capable of running NWN2 nor the money to upgrade.

People vote with their feet. If this keeps someone from leaving entirely, how would that be bad?

I have downloaded a few rars (the 2da and the ahp_3.05 ones) from the website and unpacked them with no problems so that is sorted.

I was under the impression this was a side thing made by a few, with no 'official' ALFA support. Is this still correct, or did the adminship decide to split our resources without consulting the rest of us?
