Memory.

If people want to contribute money for this, I'm not stopping them. As it is, I've got nothing against positivity, as long as it's tempered with reason.

Sadly my copy of NWN2 died on my corrupted Hard Drive. My battered SoZ discs would not work as well. I need to buy NWN2 again sometime. Personally for me it's hard to do it when they do that DnD bundle once in a blue moon, and yes I am a tight ass.

Fortunately software ownership is actually ownership of a license to use the software, with the hard copy mostly being a convenience. Can use a different copy of the game and have your own CD keys to identify you as a legitimate owner of the game and play on.

Saving for X-mas, made my wife give up her gourmet coffee habit until Dec 26th. I'd be a selfish lout if i got on GoG and plunked down 20 buckaroos for a game I owned, and lost twice. So in a third party copy it's not illegal if I have a key for it already? Hmm Hmm.... (never knew that.)

If you have your keys, all you need is someone to mail you copies of the discs, or some other method.

Anyone know how I can buy Electryc a copy of NWN2-Platinum, on Steam, and then he go in and download it?

I think you can do that right?

How much is it anyway?

Buy it from there.

Specifically it's not illegal to download software you own, because of the nature of software ownership. If vendors sold you software (that is, this data we provide to you is yours in the same sense as if we bought you a chair), you'd be able to do all sorts of things to the software that would be bad for their business, on account that it's software and not a chair.

So they sell you the right to use their final copyrighted product, usually "as-is" and without warranty, and usually with the condition that "use" doesn't include those bad things that they don't want you to do (like reverse engineering it).

It thus means that it doesn't really matter where you get the wad of data, as long as you can demonstrate that you own the right to use it. Which unique CD keys are pretty good at.
