Adventurers Quarter: Watch Guardpost

When handing over bounties, Sarya reports dweomervore corpses held in inventory to be the same amount as imp horns when discussing possible rewards. This doesn't affect rewards themselves.

Brewing station.

Acid flask creation require 2 x ichor to trigger the crafting conversation thread. The brewing itself only takes 1 ichor from inventory (instead of 2).

Bob the Fisherman is a con artist and a thief! He sells 'Fishing licenses' for 25 coin in order that he alone can then sell you a fishing pole for 15 coin. 40 coin for a stick! For all this, I figured at least it was a regulated industry with catch limits and the like - but he's overfished the entire waterfront! There's not a single place to drop a hook inside the gate and certainly none near his bait and switch shoppe.

There is a single spot to fish two miles out the south gate. This is obviously a setup to mug newbie players dumb enough to fall for his ruse. Still, I went into the woods because [this PC has no way to know it's a death sentence to walk these patrolled roads near town]. Bob sells worms for 4 GP each, and 20 GP later (60 total) I've caught

      Seriously, you can't cut an entire Carp into more than one piece?

Searching the woods for worms, he's managed to eradicate the entire species! No leaf pile or muddy bank revealed so much as a grub. This cannot be good for the environment. I suspect our entire farming economy will collapse if this heinous environmental criminal is not brought to heel!

I'd like to arrange a sit down with the little cheat. He won't be getting back up - who's with me?


((Seriously, I put these scripts on TPI for the sole purpose of enticing players to spend time near the login spot. There's a couple perfect spots right next to the Rat Hills where folk could stumble upon one another. While I did have some hidden spots with better results you needed to FoiG, the main obvious spot was main and obvious - like with a sign right next to the Arrival Portal. It also didn't cost so much poor new players wouldn't even think of risking coin on a system with no instructions))

Last I checked, be it some time ago; there were a few spots to fish.

Fishing is kind of like fishing...

Sometimes you catch the big one and get a pay off. Other-times you are just paying for your hobby.

You can also fish up by the gates that lead out onto the harbor walls just west of the Temple cart

You also can fish West alone the Docks in a few areas I have found.

Yea, I figured there were likely some I missed. Seems silly there's only a few sweet spots along miles of pier. Also weird that basic fishing in the poor area of town is a rich man's sport, and that the only spots to do it keep you far away from other PCs. I'll put it down as a very overpriced rustproof weapon and a vendetta to beat down Bob until 30 GP falls out of him.

One of ayergo's premises is that reward should be equivalent to risk (whereas in an MMO reward is commiserate with time spent doing something). So fishing, being very low risk, will also likely remain very low reward. If you want fishing to be higher reward, be prepared to catch the occasional angry crocodile that will drag you below the water to drown and eat you.

I understand that. I was looking for higher than negative reward. I believe there were checks for skills (e.g. DEX) and class (e.g. Ranger) to up your success rate. Either I was very unfortunate, or my lack of the correct skill/feat/class has me at a negative reward level.

I'm also pointing out that as a time sink, enticing PCs *away* from the Safehaven is counterproductive. Whiling away the hours at 1-2 GP per tick would be fine if I were also in a position to find companions when they wandered near the main areas. While I might not be able to do much adventuring with all the PC9-12 we have, I can at least learn IC that there's a dragon cult and a raid planned.

I would say that adventuring frequently occurs with relatively wide level disparity. It can definitely be higher risk, but most mid-to-high level PCs do their best to keep lowbies alive and unmauled. Keryn, in particular, is protective of her future subjects....er...employees?

Craft Trap is broken.. I can't use knuckles to make neg energy traps all of a sudden.

Number 1 - stop messing with dark forces

Number 2 - you will need to use black hearts to make negative energy traps
