Re: Hats off to the Wolves

Post by Ithildur »

Reading the last couple pages, one is left with little doubt that springtime has come to those of us in the northern hemisphere, the time that alfans become more frisky than a pack of tsm wolves...

On a more serious note, I do not believe there are any 80 HP non dire wolves on tsm. They seem to be about 25-30 hps, which is tougher than the stock MM wolf, but seems quite plausible in a dangerous area like the wilds of the Savage Frontier.

Personally, I prefer animals (and perhaps Skypony raider types too) to have behavior that might allow for more non slaughter options, but that means hacking through 1.22's ai changes and possibly adding new scripts. Until the day comes that I myself can attempt such scripting feats I don't see these as high enough priorities to saddle the tech folks with, unless the 1.22 ai fix turns out to be an easy job.

Does anyone have any experience with AI, or know someone who does?

I vote we implement Teric's spawn and AI system from the OA server if possible. The spawns were always there and moved around randomly. They randomly ran away or attacked when you engaged them. It was a very nice system. I myself know nothing about AI, but I kinda think Teric does. =)

And yeah, monster AI has gotten weird and in some instances very exploitable.

I suggested that months ago, and haven't heard a thing about Teric volunteering to redo our spawns for us, so I'm guessing one of us will have to do it for us.
<paazin> Elves I bet are kinda fun to play.

Teric is having trouble with the AI now as well. It's not limited to TSM. The discussion is presently happening here:

Ah, sorry. I forgot it was in a private forum. If you are curious, they are discussing the ins and outs of scripting, which is beyond me.

ROFLMAO! I know you weren't. I was just being a smartass! (especially since I didn't even know Teric was one of our's! No disrespect meant, I'm just not that curious about who goes on behind the scenes, as long as it's fun on my side :) )

btw, i wish you the best of luck on the AI bugs, Mr. T. I wouldn't know a script if it stripped me of everything I owned and dumped me on a glacier in my birthday suit.
