A Land Far Away

OK, we've transitioned TSM over to co-hosting with Baldur's gate on Zicada's host machine.

So, ping may be worse for some US players and aussies, better for some Euro players, etc. More importantly, though, it shouldn't lose connection bandwidth most weekday nights, like the prior hosting solution was prone to over the last month or so.

Please report any unusual problems or major differences in performance. The new host is posting to Gamespy, under PW: Story.

One note: if you use Direct Connect to reach the server, make sure to specify the port number (that's the ":28999" part), as Direct Connect defaults to port 5121. Attempting to connect to TSM's new IP using port 5121 will fail.

Swapped back, after university traffic connection caused multiple timeouts. Will be simple enough to swap back if the stateside host connection peters out again.

We're down at this time.

Back up. Seems there was a power outage extended enough to deplete the UPS battery, so it had to await my return to power everything back up again. Seven hours after the reported disappearance of the server, my UPS was only at about 20% charge, so it must have been a fairly extended outage.

Looks like she's rebooting now.

Gonna walk the dogs while I have this enforced break. Back in game shortly to clear up IC messiness!

Yes, sorry, has been down all day again due to power outage.

And now back up. The power outage started shortly after I left for work, and lasted about 15 minutes longer than the capacity of the uninterruptable power supply (1 hr 3 min).

Looks fine now, here's hoping no more equipment failures at the local utility company.

Vault connections restored, thanks to AL and zicada.

Server crashed for the second time this morning.

I am only posting because the same series of events occurred both times leading up to the crash.

My PC was walking on the travel map.....random encounter happenned and entered the encounter area....a troll was spawned.....I killed troll...as I exited the encounter area and was loading the travel map, the server crashed.

Same exact thing twice in a row...coincidence?
