Change of the Gaurd

BRM will not be up and running for a while, due to comp and RL issues. He has stepped down from the HDM possition of BG, I will be filling that vacuum. I know there hasn't been much activity of late on the server due to little DM attention, and I am seeking to correct that issue, but I do have other priorities beside dming atm which will be taking a little of my time. Store corrections is the first on my list. I intend to bring all stores in line with standards by next weekend. As such, look for adjusted prices, especially in the potions/scrolls section. AL corrected our blueprints for potions and scrolls last night, as it seemed to have reverted which should have helped with that issue, however, there are places they will still be overpriced due to markup of the store themsleves. These will be corrected.

As OGR is battling RL, and Sandermann will be working from behind the scenes mostly doing additions to the server, I will be putting out another call for BG DM's. I am no BRM when it comes to DMing, but I will do the best I can for you guys. I ask only a few things.

1. Be respectful to myself and my DM's. No one knows all the canon there is to know, cept maybe Spider....and it is fine to question things that may not look right. What I will not tolerate is an insistance on how things should be. I trust my DM's to make good judgement calls and to be in contact with me about what they do. At the end of the day, the player does run the world...but the dm's oversee that world, and no amount of meta-knowledge about the setting will save you from that.

2. Be mindful of each other. I stepped up so the server can continue, and so that you can continue to enjoy yourselves. I would much rather be dming you, than going through logs trying to find out whom did what to whom when and why no dm knew about it....that's just not my thing....not something I enjoy doing. If I have to babysit, I will...but you won't like me as a nanny. :P

3. Be patient. It will take some time to get the ball rolling again, and I do not have the time in my life that BRM did for DMing. I will do the best I can to bring in more DM's but you will have to be patient with them too, as they might be learning the client. I will try to do the best I can to cover everyone on the servers.

I appreciate your time, and look forward to seeing all of you IN GAME!

Sorry to hear about BRM, I have never had the pleasure of playing under his DMship but I know many others have, and he will be missed.

Dan, congratulations and I'm sorry! I suspect this means we may see less of a certain dorf, but BG needs love too, and I'm sure you have plenty to spare. Thanks for stepping up!

Sorry to all for being afk so much and so often recently. Traveling quite a bit for work and barely have time for the family let alone my ALFA family. I will do my best to pop on when I can but my schedule through January 2010 makes me cringe.

Thanks Dan for stepping up. When things sort out for me I am there for you.

Most of my work with the stores is complete, I now turn my attention to mispriced items. This I plan to have finished today. In the coming weeks, I will be taking stock of your PC's inventories and probably adjusting your items....

DO NOT PANIC. DO NOT FEAR. This is not a standards pricing witchhunt. Nothing at all will be taken from your PC's that will not be given back. What is neccessary is that everything in your inventories is priced correctly. I will be removing the items that are incorrectly priced, and replacing them with the same items, priced correctly. This will allow the team to get a better idea of where your wealths actually stand. I will be dming between these times of going through inventories.

My storework is now in mod. THose stores that didn't have correct prices after the potion/scroll fix was added in by Al, now do. I have corrected store sale item prices, most of which were selling for cheaper than they should have been selling at, mostly the +1 items. Retagged a merchant, so he is appearing in the mod at least where he wasn't before, will try to get store functioning later. Will look into Maltz weapons this eve to see if NPC is also inactive atm.
