A man came into the village of Rivermoot claiming that the path to Fourthpeak is being held by a well armed band of orcs with trained wolves. They have even set archers and sentries atop the high tower, nearly in range of the Rauvin River Road.

News in Rivermoot:

A pack of goblins were a bit riled up. The story goes they killed a guard and stole his sword. The Legion response is being delayed as there are some problems down at the Mausoleum. It seems the a few dead have been walking for reasons unknown. While the kelemvorits handled many of the walking dead a few remain and the priests need their rest.
The Legion however would not spend the men to retrieve a sword while there's a chance of some undead uprising.
The goblins apparently ran to the hills.

Gather Info total of +5: Word is the goblins were yelling at the guard before they attacked him, like they were trying to say something in their odd tongue. a Legion scout believes he's located them encamped up in the hills.
The number of undead that started walking is staggering, however the Kelemvorits put over a hundred of them to rest before they needed rest. Only a few walking corpses still move and the no one knows what caused it. The third door on the left in the Mausoleum leads deeper into the burial chambers.

Gather info higher total ranks higher than 10: PM me.

[Encounters are in place, fits a group of 4, levels 1-2. (Or something similar)]

As it is, a few hushed voices around Rivermoot murmer about a pair of dwarves and an orc ("would you believe that?!") who delt with a small undead army in the crypts under the nearby Kelemvor and put them all to rest.
A few say that the three recovered the body of a lost girl from deep within the crypts, though others insist it was probably the orc who killed her to begin with because the beautiful girl turned him down.
Another uncomfired roumor blaims the girl's family in dealings with black magic, claiming they started the whole thing.

The only certain thing is that the legion is back to regular duties and the threat of walking dead has been removed.

The guards in Rivermoot have been chuckling at a pair of dwarves along the river. Apparantly it took the pair more than an hour to muster the courage to climb into a small skiff and head across the river. The rowing of said skiff was also a source of amusement for the humans of the riverside village as the dwarfs made no fewer than 4 full accidental circles with the row boat before figuring out that two oars were needed to move forward.

The talk among various establishments around the Gem revolves around a disturbance at the House of Harp, otherwise known as the Fochlucan bardic College. It seems a shipment of instruments and costumes as well as other stage props and various other items has gone missing,

Coincidentally, a traveling bard in Rivermoot was heard complaining about narrowly escaping an ambush with only the loss of his precious lute in exchange for his life. Apparently the ambushers were a group of kobolds, with oddly enough with a single orc present but not getting involved in the attack.

The bard mentions something about a pit trap along with a ruse to lure him and his companions off of the main road on his way to Silverymoon. None of his companions survived the attack apparently, and the bard fled for his life all the way to Highhold before making his way back to Rivermoot to contemplate departing the 'gods forsaken, barbaric' North.

((encounters set for low lvl groups under lvl 4... note that they are not all necessarily of the same degree of difficulty)

Posted on various locations in the Gem are notices that proclaim the Fochlucan offering a substantial reward for the recovery of the lost shipment.

Meanwhile, rumors in Rivermoot say the disgruntled bard has decided to summon the courage to make one more attempt at reaching Silverymoon, but would like to hire adventurer types to accompany him, with promises of fair compensation.

An apparently unrelated rumor has it that several travelers have been reporting a sighting of 'damn hugest wyvern we e'er saw!!' flying overhead just northwest of the Druids' Grove.

The rewards apparently still remain unclaimed, and the call for resourceful and adventurous souls continues to go forth!

((will do my best to be on the client again tomorrow afternoon US time, depending on how much I can get done before then; note that this will take a number of sessions to complete, very unlikely to be done quickly especially with a group of less than 3-4 PCs. Also, mid lvl PCs are more than welcome to participate and will make certain things easier, but in the end lvl PCs may get plenty of chances to outshine higher lvls who rely solely on bashing things))

*Two badly beaten travellers appeared in High Hold a few nights ago. A half-orcess in a mask appeared, bleeding from many wounds, carrying what seemed to be a dead man, came into the Hold, begging for a healer. She recounted a tale of misadventure while trying to find the lost shipment of Fouchlan instruments.

While tracking the lost instruments, Kolbolds had attacked in a great number just north of Meteor Lake. She explained they had a leader who spoke the common tongue and oddly sang out songs to inspire his lizardly minions. She begged the Legion to send out a patrol of strong soldiers to remove this threat.

The handsome, but broken man, was overheard by healers mumbling something about seeing a dragon, until he passed out from the pain.*

Rumors continue to circulate from Rivermoot to Highhold, Silverymoon, and even as far northeast as Hawk's Nest about the strange flurry of recent kobold activity in the region. There have been numerous skirmishes with travelers and Legion men, with most encounters going rather poorly for the kobolds, but a few occasional incidents where the small critters apparently managed to successfully defeat fairly capable targets.

The recounting of one incident in particular is repeated from tavern to tavern, though there may be various degrees of exaggeration in the retelling: a band of quite well equipped and apparently fairly seasoned adventurers set out on a 'campaign' to deal with 'the little buggers once and for all' from Silverymoon, and never returned to the Gem.

Some recountings of the tale say there was one survivor, who returned briefly to pack up all his belongings and left the city in a hurry, perhaps in humiliation or shame, muttering something about 'thrice damned puny, scaly, spell flinging bard o' some sort... cunning bugger...'

A bloodied but apparently triumphant group of armed figures (with a large, dangerous looking boar in tow some say) strode into Rivermoot recently. Rumors spread that they encountered a large group of kobolds that were making an ill advised assault on a well known local wizard's estate, that they apparently thought would be unguarded and easy pickings.

Most Rivermoot folks, including most of the Legion, respond to the rumors with smirking disdain for the creatures that have long been familiar to them as little more than annoyances.

((next session is planned for this Saturday night 9pm CST, starting in/near Rivermoot; if PCs need a port to RM I can arrange for a IC means to be there))

Rivermoot is abuzz with accounts of the recent wyvern attack, which claimed the lives of two of the town's guards: an archer woman named Miram, and a pikeman named Joram; the pair are said to be siblings.

Several men have been busy cleaning the splattered remains of the horse that fell from the sky, apparently dropped by one of the wyverns, as well as the corpses of two wyverns. Some say that while one of the wyverns was slain by the combined efforts of a small band of adventurers and Rivermoot's finest men, the other fell to the ground out of the sky crippled or dead even before it crashed into a heap near the town's gate.

A small caravan stopped in town late today, confirming that they were attacked by the trio of wyverns, with another pair of mercenary guards slain and one of their horses being carried off.

No word has been heard so far concerning the third wyvern, which apparently remains alive and out there somewhere.
