I agree with everything, but especially this.
There's a place I like to hide
A doorway that I run through in the night
Relax child, you were there
But only didn't realize and you were scared
It's a place where you will learn
To face your fears, retrace the years
And ride the whims of your mind

Yeah; that makes perfect sense to me as well.

Another thing I wanted to add was that people looking for a playground may have the “Hide Password Protected” box checked, which hides ALFA servers from the server list.

Something perhaps worth considering is having a chunk of one of our current servers broken off as a separate OPEN mini-server. Maybe the Sword Mountains mining camp or the Warrens from WD or Rick’s mentioning of Secomber. Or go bigger and have some of Undermountain or Skullport.

I think having EE servers would be a grand idea. I would prefer to play on an EE server to original NWN 1 (though I have both installed right now), and I absolutely think we should have an ALFA-branded server out there in the listings.

I can make no "official" remarks upon player status and application/recruitment processes as that is PA's portfolio, but I think that by and large, all parts of the community profit from exposure to the different items on our menu (as long as NWN 1 / EE is ALFA in spirit, as it very much seems to be so far). I would just like to echo ayergo's caution, not everybody who joins a random server will take their time researching what it's about, and the kind of players we are not looking for are also the kind of players that would just skip or disregard an "explanation NPC" in a start area. Hopefully just a minor worry, but I would also like to reiterate that ALFA community rules ought to be observed on all of ALFA's "branches" at least, even if not ALFA standards.

So, yeah, go for EE if it is possible without too much stress, the people who get it will be the ones still actively interested in NWN 1 EE offerings.
The power of concealment lies in revelation.

EE plz, thx!

Also, Rick and ayergo are currently building, scripting, and DMing furiously and amazingly and my opinion of what they’re doing just increased a whole bunch because I learned they’re doing this all without official support.

I’d also love to see more players. I fully support the cloning initiative.
Currently laying the smackdown on Faerun as: Keryn Tel'Jora, who is XXX-TREME!!!.
Currently explaining the meaninglessness of it all as Vizian Nazyr.
Currently pointing out all other characters' shortcomings as Stephen the Archer.

Laptop users. When I run EE, my machine get extremely hot. Has anyone else noticed this, and if so, have you found reasonable settings that will reduce the issue? My machine got so hot, so fast, that I was really concerned it was going to burn up a board or memory chip.
If the enemy is an ass and a fool and a rating
coxcomb, is it meet, think you, that we should also,
look you, be an ass and a fool and a prating
coxcomb? in your own conscience, now?

Are you using a cooling station when you play games? I'm on a laptop as well, and have always used one, if for no other reason than paranoia.

I had not found it to be necessary with the original game version. I have an old one, but I am not sure it will be enough.

I'm buying it right now.

But if past is prologue I am going to need a lot of handholding to get it to work.

Just run up EE in player mode, check the list of servers, and look for ALFA Skullport, it will be red, and use the same password as WD DF.

And if you'd like I can link your vault so you can travel back and forth to Skullport with wayfarer!!!
