Arch enemies and empires for DM's

I have the deepest respect for all the endless creativity that DM's have to generate all the time, just to keep us players involved / entertained.
I wonder why , or perhaps if there has been , creation of ongoing plots , characters , empires , rival clans , rival gangs , rival merchant guilds, known marauders with some named bad guy at the top slave traders, Places to fence stolen goods... And other such situations that could help DM's not only create good stories but allow for stories that stretch across server lines ... Thus bringing a certain cohesion to all of ALFA , increasing shared experiences among characters of all levels.
Characters of different alignments could possibly tap into such persistent storylines from different angles.
In addition to assisting DM's in their creativity , you could help characters develop goals ideas subplots and even vendettas.

Please forgive me as I am still new if this has been done and redone... But on the other hand , I would be proud to assist in creating some of these things if needed.
I thank you all again , both characters and DM's for making this the most entertaining way to spend my time.

Yeah... all of that stuff exists. Obviously, I can't repost most of it, but we have rival gangs, rival factions, rival merchant companies, evil empires, powerful slavers (even greasy ones who we can't be certain are powerful slavers and haven't yet had a grumpy enough vigilante to come along and just kill him.), competing chuches, warring churches, underground temples to illegal faiths, etc.

Just a matter of looking around and being appropriately sneaky about the illegal stuff. The naughty/ evil/ illegal things on the above list tend to get destroyed or routed if they become public knowledge.

As for things like that that span across server lines, they are quite a bit harder to do, not the least because of how geographically far away each server actually is from each other.

Cross server plots require alot more time and dedication to run if you want to keep them coherent. Many have tried in the past and only a few have ever managed to stick out to the end of the plot.
