Haven't bothered with it since a computer change some months ago, could use a refresher.

Note: it seems the Client Extension logs do not record certain kinds of tells (specifically ones sent by DMs, possibly while possessing an NPC) which do show up in the default NWN2 log. I noticed this when looking up a series of fairly important tells JLM had sent me; the tells were not recorded. Knowing language translations actually do show up in the 'combat log' kept by CE I checked that as well, but the tells were not recorded there either.
Fortunately I had Gnomish Log Rotator running as well for that session which meant I had a rotated/renamed standard NWN2 log, which had the information... but folks might want to be aware of this.

I use the GLR myself...it works brilliantly. I had some difficulty with it when I switched to Windows 7, but figured out a simple work around.
I know Z will probably slap me for saying it, but I don't care for the client extension myself....seems buggy in the DM client.
For those that don't care for the client extension either, I'll post the Win7 workaround for the GLR 5000 soon.

I don't use it. I am a computer noob and barely have time to play these days. I don't really know what it is for or if I need to worry about it. I play so little I can't imagine having to defend myself from any accusations of farming. I don't have a history of being involved in a lot of CvC. I am thinking I can continue to get by without it.

I usually don't use the CE. Frankly I've never seen it improve the stability of the DM client and have seen it cause lag (I don't recall crashes from anything except examining things while possessing, but those are unfortunately common). And I play rarely.

Disputes happen, coming to the table without logs (don't need to be CE based) is begging to be on the losing end. Whether in CvC as participant or witness, whether as a DM you catch misconduct "red handed" etc.
Logging is easy. Even if preferred tools like the CE are turned down as options. Later you'll kick yourself if some smug cheater with better "evidence" walks all over you in a dispute.
Edit. Positive log use is for dms or players to recall plots, names, details, summarize things in like, faction forums, DM forums, library etc. Gee were we seeking 600gp or 600 platinum, check log and be sure.
