Letter to Marisha

*Left with Madame Garah for delivery is a sealed scroll addressed to Marisha. The parchment appears a fine quality and the seal is a simply a circle of unadorned wax lacking any sigil or symbols. Upon opening there will be neatly scribed words packed together closely to make efficent use of the whole scroll but spaced far enough apart to make the writings easily legible without need for squinting or magnification. The words that follow are written in Chondathan.*

I write to you because after seeking to hire researchers and sages to aid my efforts, your name was refferenced and reccomended several times by way of high praise by your peers and competitors. It is my hope that you and I may work together to unravel some of the mystery surrounding regional events and happenings by better identifying the various factions involved, their motivations, spheres of influences, resources, and capabilities. In exchange for your efforts and willingness to make myself an informed party within current affairs I offer to you what puzzling pieces I currently hold in hope that together we may work towards seeing not only the bigger picture, but also the fine brush strokes that have created this scenerio, and may effectively change future events for a more favorable tomorrow.

Nabalnyth the Black once laired within the Rat Hills fifty years ago, but was either slain or inspired to flee by another. Possibly the Wrym of Many Spells. I am curious to know more about this dragon named Nabalnyth so that I may see if there exist a connection between the current Draconic affairs about the city and to perhaps infer what motivations drove Nabalnyth from the Rat Hills.

The Wyrm of Many Spells is possibly a Dragon existing within or around Waterdeep and hidden from the authorities and population of the city. This mysterious Dragon may have been responsable for driving Nabalnyth from the Rat Hills fifty years ago. What interests me is learning more about this mysterious Dragon so that we may make an educated guess as to if this Wyrm of Many Spells is a potential ally to the City of Splendors or it's enemy. I do not know if this dragon is Chromatic or Metallic, nor it's age, or any other defining trait. All that I know is this dragon may have once chased a Black Dragon away from the city and that the Wizard Maaril is very interested in this Wyrm of Many Spells.

The Wizard Maaril is a curious figure to myself in that he has been described to me as both one responsable for callously sending unwitting adventurers to their deaths to further his own agenda, and as a reputable defender and hero of the city. I have been told he carries a Dragon staff, and I have seen his interest in learning more about the Wrym of Many Spells. What I do not know are Maaril's motivations and intentions. Is he hunting this Wrym of Many Spells because he is seeking to put another feather in his cap, end some long standing feud, or is he seeking a potential ally? What is this Dragon Staff he carries? I suspect Maaril is as critical a piece of this shifting puzzle as any other and more information about him would be welcomed.

As for this last request, I apologize if it is an affront to your talents and time but the simple truth is I have arrived to the City after a great many affairs had already been set into motion and a reliable source of recent history is most desired. I have heard of Dragon Attacks off the coast, Armies of Lozard Folk working with Yuan-Ti to the South, I have been victim to invisible dragon thievery upon the city streets, heard tales of Nurseries where said thieves are breed, and I have exchanged violent confrontations with the Cult of the Dragon. It is my hope you maybe able to provide me with a coherent and meaningful retelling of the events that have lead us and this city to the current state of affairs with a clarity and understanding the Daily Trumpent simply can not.
