Searching for the Paths of Success

Post by Twilighteyes »

Myfanwy sat at the bar at the Golem - she wanted to think, not talk.

She thought of the dragons - who would have thought that one would need a plural for such a subject? - and what they wanted.

She thought of worshippers - her lip curled slightly in contempt - of these huge beasts, and how they became ever bolder, disrupting life to ever greater extents in Daggerford and in Waterdeeep.

She thought of the crypts, what lay deep within them, and what blood had been spilled there. And how there was defintiely a need for balanced justice there. A justice resulting in so many, many souls released to their final reward.

And she thought of the lizards in the marshes west of the city. The lizardfolk who stood siege there, the forces they commanded, the not-so-funny-at-all tiny dragons, and the snake people who ruled them all.

She had heard the talk in the streets, and in the taverns. It had been disaster after disaster for those trying to banish these evils and leave the region safe for the regular folk who merely tried to live their lives there. Battles gone awry, swarms of undead, threats of decimation, burglaries and theft and personel - very personal - assaults. It was as though a dark cloud hung over the lands from Waterdeep to the Way Inn. How could they deal with dragons? How did the cult grow so strong? How could they survive a second trip to the crypts or a third (or was it forth?) attack on the swamps?

Myfanwy pondered, and ordered more wine, and thought, and had another wine. She was beginning to appreciate the folks who inhabited the Inns so much. But all the wine in the world wouldn't solve their problems.

She remembered her mother telling her, when there was a difficult task ahead, to break it down and solve it one piece at a time. Often, when you solved one problem, it helped to lead to another solution. She nodded to herself, and drank the last of the wine.

They had the germ of a plan for the greatest difficulty - she'd leave that alone. There needed to be information shared about the other topics - the cultists, the crypts, and the marshes. She would foster an information exchange. The bold words she had the other day rang in her ears - "this is kind of talk they wih to suppress. We need to talk and have folks know what is what and what we can do."

She left word with a couple of people that anyone who had knowledge of the attacks on the marshes, how the enemy had been arrayed, and ideas of tactics that could be used, to seek her out. Myfanwy had her own idea to share.

She also passed word that ANY sighting of cultists anywhere within or nearby Waterdeep to be passed along. If possible, any inkling of where they came from or where they went to - sewers? Safe houses? Abandoned building? Any clue - sight, sound scent - could lead them to valuable information.

Myfanwy was determined to keep pulling at threads until they could know enough to deal with one of their problems. The activity of gathering information could help to recruit those who could fight against the foe!

((OOC - Myfanwy is seeking dertails on anything that could help with lizards in the marsh or with the cultists in the City of Waterdeep. I will post some summaries of what SHE knows so that people can say their characters 'know the basics'. This is better done in-game, I know, but it would take weeks just to try and catch everyone online and it not be a DM event where people want to do other things besides talk about stuff that is already known to many. If you have questions, please post them and I will try to find answers.

((Myfanwy is also looking to see who is willing to participate in a quest against either the lizardmen in the marshes, or the crypts below. If enough information is gathered about the cultists, perhaps we can arrange an action there.

((Thanks for reading, I know it was long, please let me know if you have any questions IC or OOC.))

Fanny gon' wreck some lizards using their own crocs.

There's a place I like to hide
A doorway that I run through in the night
Relax child, you were there
But only didn't realize and you were scared
It's a place where you will learn
To face your fears, retrace the years
And ride the whims of your mind

Well, she can dominate the crocs and sharks. But my testing shows she can only do so to one (1) animal at a time. If you do a second one the first one is released. So, no army of crocs. Too bad, that would have been way cool.

It's also very hard to do in melee combat. Often times they get dominated the same round as they get attacked by someone else, which kind of ruins the effect.

I'm still very interested in any personal experiences people care to relate about the swamps and fighting the lizards/crocs/Yuan-ti/whatever other nasty critters ayergo has dumped into this primeval stew.
