She turns and walks out onto the balcony, staring up at Selune’s beautiful form in the cloudless night. Her mind drifts to her recent memories. She recalls seducing the man now resting peacefully in his bed, the recalls horrid memories of their lustful night together. She stares out to the night, and slips her hand into her gown. She pulls a seam, and retrieves a slim dagger from a hidden pouch in the waist of her gown. She holds it up to the light and it shines an iridescent blue. She sets her finger to the keen blade and gives it a hint of pressure to test it, still perfectly sharp. How it has kept its edge after all this time she will never know, she simply assumes that it is some form of enchantment she was not told about when she was given it.
She slides over to the bed, and looks down at the sleeping form below her. “This is what I do, this is what I live for.” She thinks to herself. Her hand slides over his mouth, and she puts the point of the dagger next to his neck. With one deep breath, she forces all of her wait onto her hands, plunging the dagger into his neck. His eyes open wide, but he does not have time to scream. She holds him still until his body stops writhing. She pulls a second dagger from the hidden pocket of her robes, and lays it gently on the mans chest. The silver etching of a gothic nine peers upward, warning whomever will find the body.
Her elven ear perks up, and she looks sharply behind her. A shadowy form seems to vanish from the balcony as she looks, and sitting on the ground is a small diamond. She smiles to herself, treads over and picks up the diamond. She holds it up to the moon, and peers at it in the light. “This is what I do, this is what I live for, and this is my reward.” The noble is dead, his business will end, his family will fall. And she will indulge in the finer things in life until the next time They come to her.
