Bond

It has happened, Velyn has asked me to bond with him. I remember being afraid that the twins would not accept him, but they have taken him to their hearts as I have taken him to mine. Xavien has even asked Velyn to carry Arakiel's sword, Malek's Revenge until he himself was old enough to wield it. That gesture brought tears to my eyes. It was Xavien who first asked if we could get married.

Though I have been married, I have never bonded. Arakiel did not want me tied to his short lifespan. He had always told me to be strong and to go on with my life, finding as much joy as I can. Sometimes, I can feel him, his approval from the House of the Triad. He is happy that the children and I found another person to be their anchor.

I look into Velyn's ice blue eyes, and see something he rarely gives to anyone. Trust. His life has been filled with betrayals. I have seen when we share reverie. The betrayals had left him cold and suspicious. I healed his heart as much as he did mine. His love and trust mean alot to me, since they are so hard won.

Velyn was the first friend I made after I lost Arakiel. He found a heart turned to ice, and metled it with his warmth. I owe him so much. I love him so much.

Bond.

It is not only with Velyn I feel such attachment. My bond with nature grows ever stronger. I can control the very weather. A nice skill to be able to make it stop raining in Daggerdale. With my new found powers, I can make stone respond, not just plants any more. I still do not know the extent of these powers, and they humble me. I think I am on the verge of a breakthrough, a turnig point. I am afraid to think the words "Arch Druid", but I begin to suspect it is what is happening to me. May I be worthy of it.

Bond.

How blessed by nature I feel. I have been given the love and trust of my children, and an elf who loves me so deeply. I have been granted the love and trust of my owl friend, Hooters. Through the power of nature, he is now as intelligent as any human. I am thrice blessed that I feel the land also seems to love me and trusts me. May I serve all of them, and be worthy of that trust.

Thank you Miz. You offer reasons as to why some of us should continue to bail the water out. Means alot to me, and those that the story touches.

I love the writing and I love the story, but, the emotional impact of repeating 'bond' alone and apart from the the paragraphs, the introspective feel, the shear gravity of the situation was, for me, deflated entirely by this line:

I have been granted the love and trust of my owl friend, Hooters.

Now, I never went there to ogle the girls of course, I just went there for the buffalo wings (owl wings?) but I have to say, I can never take anything seriously that has the word 'Hooters' in it.

From now on Hooters will known as Killbeak, the uber owl. Honestly Arien is such a serious character, Hooters was needed comic relief.

Mikayla dear, if anyone approaches Arien's owl with honey BBQ sauce, Arien will show them the true meaning of BBQ. *ZZZzzzaaap*

And no, that does not mean you get to use creamy ranch.
